Dose change - feeling AWFUL

As per my previous post, my TSH was over 4 on 50mcg, so I did a week on 62.5mcg and now a few days on 75mcg. I feel terrible. So tired, weak, muscles ache, headaches. I’m still on the Wockhardt brand as it suits me best. I read somewhere this can happen if your cortisol is low. I had low 9am readings multiple times as the doctor but passed the SST test. Does anyone else experience the same?

So you are now taking 3 x 25mcg Wockhardt?

You can split the dose

25mcg waking up and 50mcg at bedtime (or vice versa)

If you still find you can’t tolerate …..reduce dose to 62.5mcg for 6-8 weeks…..before increasing again to 75mcg

Yes that’s right.

Thanks, good idea! I will try splitting and if not drop down again

To be honest, no matter how long I have stayed on a particular dose, once the dose has settled any remaining symptoms have only eased by further increases.

I think if you can, you just have to go through it. I had to dose upwards slowly (still am possibly) as I felt overmedicated on a higher doses.

I have adverse symptoms if I increase medication too quickly. I need to add 12.5mcg Levo and stay on the dose for a few weeks (until well tolerated). It’s important to retest 6-8 weeks after being on a stable dose (I prefer to wait 8 weeks as it takes me this long to ‘feel the benefit’) It takes many of us a long time to achieve an optimal dose of thyroid medication RoseStar. I didn’t begin to feel well until TSH dropped under 1 (it should always be under 2).

Yes maybe I will have to do it slowly! Strangely my GP told me to wait for 12 weeks this time before another blood test? Not sure why

I think that some people will agree with me that dose increases should be applied as gradually as 25mcg per week?
