hi all, these are my recent results. May I please ask, how do I naturally combat these antibodies?

You can't combat them. Nor do you need to. They are there for a reason...

Hashi's is an autoimmune disease that slowly destroys the thyroid, mistaking it for the enemy. During an immune system attack, the dying cells leak their store of thyroid hormone into the blood, causing levels of FT4 and FT3 to rise sharply. What we call a Hashi's 'hyper' swing.

At the same time, trace of TPO (Thyroid Peroxidase) and Tg (Thyroglobulin) - proteins necessary for the production of thyroid hormone - leak into the blood, where they shouldn't be. So, the TPO and Tg antibodies come along and clean it up.

Their presence is used to diagnose Hashi's, but they're not doing you any harm. :)

Your TSH is looking quite high for the level of free hormones you have. Are you careful to take Levo on an empty stomach 1 hour before food or caffeine containing drinks?

Its a very fussy hormone and doesn't like being taken with anything else.

Vitamin D should be around 100 - 150. Buy one that includes vit K2 to help it go to your bones. Some are available in oil or you can take it with an oily meal for better absorption. Many members like the ‘Better You’ range of mouth sprays that contain both bit D & K2. Use this calculator to work out how much to take to get your level to 100-150.grassrootshealth.net/projec...

yeah it looks odd doesn’t it. What could be causing this? I do wait with my thyroxine before I have food.

Thank you about the vitamin D. It was 67 a couple of months ago, not sure why it dropped. I’ve actually been supplementing also!

We also need to avoid caffeine containing drinks like tea & coffee as well as food for 1 hour. Many people find taking it at bed time works well, then they can wake up and have a cuppa right away.

You could be missing the odd day here and there or taking it with something thats preventing it working well.

When you have your blood test are you also sure to leave 24 hours between last Levo dose and blood draw?

Recommended blood test protocol: Test at 9am (or as close as possible), fasting, last levo dose 24hrs before the blood draw & no biotin containing supplements for 3-7 days (Biotin can interfere with thyroid blood results as it is used in the testing process)?

Testing like this gives consistency in your results and will show stable blood levels of hormone and highest TSH which varies throughout the day. Taking Levo/T3 just prior to blood draw can show a falsely elevated result and your GP/Endo might change your dose incorrectly as a result.

Thanks very much for all of the info. I’ve been drinking peppermint tea in the morning, maybe that could’ve done it. Very interesting. I also tested 24hrs after last Levo dose, at 8am. Would you say my t4 level is more accurate then? It would suggest lowering dose. Currently I’m alternating 150mg and 175 mg. Thank you!

If something has affect the Levo absorption and how your body can use it it's probably best to retest in 6-8 weeks having changed how you take it.

These results likely unreliable if the peppermint tea has been affecting absorption or hormone use.

Angie10116,

By their very nature thyroid antibodies are a form of unwanted inflammation and your TGAb's are particularly high. It is thought elevated levels can drive other chronic inflammatory processes, making you more susceptible to other health conditions.

Some members have found following an anti-inflammatory diet/lifestyle and avoiding dietary triggers like gluten, diary and iodine has helped in reducing thyroid antibody levels. Supplementing Vit D, selenium and fish oils have been shown in credible research to reduce inflammation/thyroid antibodies. I have written a better explanation in this members post where there are several replies and my reference lies within my third reponse half way down the page. ... healthunlocked.com/thyroidu....

As the thyroid autoimmune destruction has become better understood, there are several doctors/health practitioners who have shared their knowledge in the how's/why's of the immune system dysfunction. My own info is gleaned from books such as 'The Root Cause' by Isabella Wentz and 'Why Do I Still Have Thyroid Symptoms' by Datis Kharrizian.

Thank you so much for your help! I am looking into following an anti-inflammatory diet currently, but there’s so many different variations out there! Especially when it comes to dairy, meat and gluten.

I will always have to take thyroid medication as I had radioactive treatment on it for hyperthyroidism, but I just want to get those inflammatory markers down
