Your friend obviously has some kind of infection, probably a UTI (Urinary Tract Infection), based on some of the comments on the page. What effect this has on the other results I don't know - I'm not a doctor. But I'll comment on the bits I'm familiar with.

Vitamin B12 - Quite a bit lower than optimal. Suggested optimal levels for B12 are given in this link :

perniciousanemia.org/b12/le...

Personally, I would suggest that the NHS uses reference ranges for B12 that are far too low. B12 isn't poisonous and excess is excreted in the urine so I don't know why the range is kept so low other than I suspect it is an economic decision to avoid treating lots and lots of people for low B12. I keep my own levels up around 1000ng/L and maintain it with methylcobalamin which I buy from sites like Amazon. If I want to raise my level of B12 I take a dose of 1000mcg per day. For more info on the types of B12 supplement there are :

Folate - This level is deficient. Ideally it would be in the top half of the reference range around 15 - 20 μg/L. The doctor prescribing folic acid is standard, but for many people it is not the best supplement. Folic acid has to be converted into methylfolate to be useful, and about 50% of people don't have good genes to achieve this. If I want to raise my level of folate I take 1000mcg per day of methylfolate per day which I buy from sites like Amazon - there is more info on the names of the best supplements in the chris kresser link below.

The serum sodium and the other test results in the same section are all parts of the standard tests done for kidney health. The fact that several of them are out of range is probably caused by his UTI. It is likely that his urine is very dark or has blood in it, and he could use that as a guide to whether he is drinking enough water. As they get older people tend not to feel as thirsty as they ought to, and dehydration can lead to delirium and confusion, and that must be avoided

About his ferritin...

This document from the WHO is worth reading :

who.int/docs/default-source...

For someone in his 80s with an infection or inflammation a level of ferritin below 70 suggests iron deficiency.

Your friend has a level of 80, suggesting he is verging on deficiency. If he could eat an iron-rich diet it might help him to feel better. Animal-sourced iron is better absorbed than plant-sourced iron. Liver is a well-known example of a high-iron food. There are lots of links online about iron-rich diets.

medicalnewstoday.com/articl...

The differential white count results should improve when his infection has been fully treated. The white count rises to help combat infections.

The Full Blood Count results show that your friend is anaemic. The iron-rich diet would help to overcome this but ideally he should be supplementing with iron. BUT I don't know if iron and treating UTIs with antibiotics are an ideal mix. Iron might just feed the pathogens. So, the iron-rich diet and the possibility of taking iron supplements should be looked at again when his UTI has been fully treated, and not before.

Your friend's doctor might need a reminder about the anaemia after the urine infection has completely gone.
