Hi there, I’ve had this occasionally for short periods for a while now, but the last couple of weeks I seem to be getting it more and more.
It’s like the world is slightly moving around me, like I’m in a boat or something. I know the floor isn’t moving, but it feels like it is. I’m not dizzy - I’ve had vertigo before and it’s not as bad as that, but it’s discombobulating.
Any ideas as to the cause?

Get thyroid and vitamins tested including active B12
Also full iron panel
when were iron and ferritin last tested
Are you taking any iron supplements
Never supplement iron without doing full iron panel test for anaemia first and retest 3-4 times a year if self supplementing. It’s possible to have low ferritin but high iron
stop iron supplements 5-7 days before test
Test early morning, only water to drink between waking and test. Avoid high iron rich dinner night before test
Recommended that all thyroid blood tests early morning, ideally just before 9am, only drink water between waking and test and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test
This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)
T3 ….day before test split T3 as 2 or 3 smaller doses spread through the day, with last dose approximately 8-12 hours before test
Yup, still vegan, still taking separate B12 and Thorne B12 complex. My ferratin has actually dipped a bit and is now 68 ug/L so I’m working to get that up again
I felt exactly like you when I first introduced Levothyroxine. I used to describe it as a mix of vertigo and motion sickness (where you think you're still traveling in a car when you're not). I also suffered internal vibrations, like being plugged into a fridge. Everything eventually righted itself but it took a long time.
I always thought the reason was poor adrenal health that couldn't support the increased metabolism bought on by Levothyroxine. My stupid GP started me on 100mcg and my heart shot through the roof.
Although it is a classic B12 symptom it could also be an inner ear infection. I have Pernicious Anaemia & have also had Labrynthitis. The symptoms are remarkably similar with the spongy floor, walking sideways & strange perception then turning the head.
it could be bppv, to do with the inner ear. There is a manoeuvre you can do yourself it’s called the Epley manoeuvre. There are lots of videos on you tube . I’ve done this manoeuvre on myself twice with 100 % success. Good luck
perimenopause? Present with many of your symptoms. However, blood tests are difficult to determine dx. I found a functional obgyn that basis symptoms and then diagnosis. I kept a monthly journal as symptoms severely presented themselves ever two weeks
yep I have the same feeling. Bppv most likely. Though mine doesn’t respond to the Epley manoeuvre. There are also Brandt Darof exercises which sometimes help a bit. Sometimes it rights itself for a few months which is bliss. But it always comes back.
Just a shot in the dark here but are you taking any Blood Pressure medicine, I get that feeling when my BP is about 20 points lower on the systolic end and just need to tweak my medicine a bit.
