T3 12.5mg feeling great but....

Hi,

I have started to augment my 100mg levothyroxine with 12.5mg of t3. I have to say my energy has improved and most thyroid symptoms are now gone. Going to retest shortly which may help the answer to my question...

In the meantime...

I have a new symptom in that this month I have experienced a very unusual period. Very thin watery and very long lasting. So far I have been basically slowly (couldnt even call it bleeding) very watery light pink discharge for a week. One day there was no discharge. I am getting sharps stabbing like cramps on and off. Pregnancy tests negative.

Has anyone had experience with this and might be able to offer some explanation? And if it might be related to T3 use.

This is interesting.

I recently had a prolonged period (nearly 30 days) after a recent change in levothyroxine dose increase. The first few days were like a normal ish period and after that it was very light. To the point I got sick of very liners (it didn’t fill one) and switched to using a very ultra light tampon instead for my comfort.

The period after that was my normal. Reading your posts I wonder if it suggests my own T3 of FT3 improved. My T3 certainly did anyway.

I hope that’s helpful in some way. I’m afraid I don’t know. I wonder if others have had your experience on T3 specifically.

That is very interesting thank you. Especially as your period returned to normal. I am worried and was thinking of stopping the T3 but in every other way it has been very helpful. I also track my ovulation and my lh hormone was also changed this month and looked unusual. Thank you for sharing. I'm now thinking I need to see if it levels out symptoms wise. 🙂

I think that’s wise.

May I ask you keep track of your other hormones as well ovulation? As I fear I may be having periods but not ovulating.

Yes I keep track of LH and then basal body temperature (bbt). BBT confirms a rise in body temperature that can confirm ovulation. Apps like fertility friend and pre-mom are helpful trackers. Hope that's helpful.

Gotcha.

Track of LH? Via tests?

Via pee sticks which you can buy. I rate the pre-mom ones and their app for tracking. It gives you useful information about the amount of LH your producing across your cycle but also how high your LH peak is. Lh doesn't confirm ovulation though. This is why I like to keep track of BBT to see does it rise after LH peak. From this you can assess how long your follicular phase is and then your luteal phase. You will only get a BBT rise if you have ovulated.

Oooooo! Yes! I’ve seen them. Are they accurate in in your view? I wondered if I should try then to reassure myself.

By the way, thank you for all the information. It’s hard to not worry when your body is changing and the biggest part of why you had started treatment at all is to have a baby.

So, thank you 🫶🏽

They are accurate in the sense that when you use them month after month you get a sense of your own pattern. I know when I haven't ovulated in a combination of LH test and BBT rise/not. Not at all I'm glad. If there is something I've learned along this horrible journey, that might actually do some good then that makes me smile 😊

Let us know what’s happens with your next period. I think it’s important to give these things time to settle. How much time is a rough judgement call however 🫶🏽
