I think this only applies to their 'in clinic' tests, not their postal at home tests?

No it doesn’t, it applies to home tests which by my reckoning makes their already bargain-ous thyroid test even better value at £23.20! Worth buying for a future date I’d say.

Ah, when I tried it on Monday, it wouldn't apply to the at home kits. But they seem to have rectified the error now.

I see!

I hope thir customer service has improved since I used them earlier this year. It took well over a week for someone to actually despatch the kit!

You’ve just reminded me, I had to chase them for my results 😬

My test failed (apparently), but it took them more than four days to tell me. They did send a replacement kit but that took another week. Unless they've improved since then, I wouldn't recommend if you need to know your thyroid levels in a hurry!

[Edit: And they don't have an account facility for postal tests, so no way to keep track of your test results on an ongoing basis.]

Do there kits come with a use by date?

RedApple profile image
RedAppleAdministrator in reply to TiggerMe

Yes I think so. If I remember correctly, it was a good length of time, maybe six months.

TiggerMe profile image
TiggerMe in reply to RedApple

That's pretty good, I think Medichecks and MMH are 3 months?

RedApple profile image
RedAppleAdministrator in reply to TiggerMe

I've not used Medichecks for years, so can't comment on their dates.

I have a hunch that MMH use by can depend on how many they've sold, as I've had varying expiry times on mine.

In other words, if for example, they pre-prepare 1,000 kits with six months expiry, but still have 500 left when your order goes in three months later, then you only get 3 months. Hope that makes sense? I might be completely wrong of course! :D

Just had a look at Medichecks and it's 120 days and 21 days for a retest kit... like you say MMH just say before the expiry date on the kit provided

I seem to recall MMH promised a minimum of three months when I enquired years ago. Can't find anything on their website though.

I think you are right, I'm sure I have asked them in the past

You can now buy blood tests from Amazon?!

RedApple profile image
RedAppleAdministrator in reply to Jaydee1507

Yes I just checked! Certainly Randox are selling through Amazon.

RedApple profile image

Is there anything you can't get through Amazon these days!

Jaydee1507 profile image
Jaydee1507Administrator in reply to RedApple

True. I just took a look. Its the only one I think that does TSH, FT4 & FT3 amongst a sea of the other rubbish tests.

Should you also be looking for vitamin results as well as thyroid labs then OneDayTests have an offer on their Ultimate thyroid test, now £59.50 (30% off) No vit D included but it does ferritin, folate & B12.

You can do walk in if you are near one of their centres or finger prick.

Looks as if the B12 included in that one is not active B12?

Jaydee1507 profile image
Jaydee1507Administrator in reply to RedApple

Thats a good point. I would need to ask them which it is as their ranges are so weird compared to other labs thst I'm not even sure.

TiggerMe in reply to Jaydee1507

Oh FFS! I searched everywhere only to find it is Randox but they list the clinics out of order as it is based in John Lewis 😩

Wow at getting blood tests done at John Lewis. Feb is a bit of a way away though.
