Hi all hope everyone is well on this glorious autumn day. I am really well, but according to recent thyroid test done, via medichecks, 12 days ago I should be experiencing hypothyroid symptoms and really out of it but I am not. In fact I feeling really well, best in a long time, so beginning to suspect Medichecks test result is incorrect. CAN THIS HAPPEN?
Here are my results done 12 days:
TSH 11.9 0.27 - 4.2
T4 12 12 - 22
T3 3.5 3.1 - 6.8
Prior to above test results, levo dose was 50mcg alternative days. Incidentally, I had thyroid removed 1990. Honestly, despite being on such a low dose of levo prior to test I had no hypothyroid symptoms and really was totally surprised when I saw these results. In fact, I expected numbers to be near top of range based on how well I was feeling.
Based on results above increased levo to 50mcg daily 12 days ago.
There is an explanation as to why my levo dose was so low, 50mcg alternative days, prior to test, but I won't go into that because it's quite complicated. Besides, I covered this issue in a previous post.
What's going on here? Can't get my head around it....!
What do you think is going on here?
Really would appreciate some feedback.
Have a rewarding day.

Quite possibly your thyroid has partially grown back. Also your high TSH will stimulate type 2 deiodinase which takes place close to the cell nucleus, where you need T3. I would still increase your levothyroxine a little.
Jim a medication I was on, Amiodarone, totally messed up my thyroid levels. This drug has very high iodine content and a very long half life. Even though I stopped taking this drug 10 August do believe its still playing havoc re: conversion of thyroid meds.
Oh dear, I don't have specific knowledge, the details, but certainly amiodarone messes up the thyroid and probably other aspects of thyroid hormone. Doctors are so good at telling patients not to take iodine and then they dose them up with amiodarone. Not sure how to handle this, maybe tread a middle line between blood tests and how you feel.
I had one like this and tested with Monitor My Health the next time… 6 weeks later was even more over range. Didn’t become symptomatic until after this second test so probs 12 weeks on. Loose bowels, hearing my heartbeat and feeling a bit warmer were my signs.
That said Medichecks did have an error in one of their machines a while back but caught it quickly and messaged everyone affected, retested and confirmed all working as expected. They are open and transparent when asked about it.
