Could someone please tell me if it is alright to take Ibuprofen when hypothyroid after Graves. I seem to remember this has been discussed on this forum before and would be grateful if someone could direct me to the post about this, or have knowledge of whether we can take Ibuprofen. Thank you.

Ibuprofen when Hypothyroid after Graves.
Both my endocrinologist & TED specialist ophthalmologist told me I’m fine to take short courses of ibuprofen as long as it’s not on an empty stomach, as this can cause irritation.
How significant are you pain levels? What specific areas are affected?
Thank you both Buddy195 and Lalatoot , As I ate quite a few hours ago, I guess I had better wait until morning now. It is more a case of helping get the inflammation down than a great deal of pain. I had a fall, my knee gave way, and I went down with damage to my face and a small fracture at the top of my nose. Swelling has gone down a bit now so will wait until morning. It happened outside my GP surgery, so got prompt service. Thank you both for your help.
I’m so sorry to hear of your fall & wish you a speedy recovery.
Personally, I have found turmeric supplements (with ginger & black pepper to aid absorption) have helped reduce my inflammation levels. My rheumatologist also recommended I try glucosamine and chlondroitin for joint pain. I have found these beneficial after a few weeks of taking them.
To help with your current pain, can you take paracetamol this evening? (These don’t have to be taken with food)
Thank you so much for your concern Buddy195 . The bruising is fading each day now and pain much eased. Paracetamol is all I can take, it appears with Graves and it does help. I haven't had much luck with Turmeric with Black Pepper in the past even though I tried it for longer than a month. Cold compresses seem to be helping with the swelling, which has almost subsided now.
I've just reread your post with a few hours break between and it still hurts me as much the second time around !!
I'm so sorry - I've Graves post RAI thyroid ablation and never been advised as to what pain killers I can and can't take ?!?!
Take good care - ironic that the incident happened at the doctors.
Thank you for your concern pennyannie . A couple of places are still sore, but fading by the day. Have a follow-up appointment at outpatients next Friday, so feel safe about that. The Doctor I saw at A & E did seem to know that I should not have Ibuprofen though, so I felt in safe hands then. Don't really need it now though, but my Husband did buy a pack just in case!
Yes, it was rather ironic that it happened while at Doctors, but most useful if it has to be anywhere.
I take it. I make sure I take it a couple if hours away from meds and never on an empty stomach .
