Hi there,
After an interesting thread today highlighting I may need to add T3, I was wondering what sort of dose most people start with and what it costs. Do you take it at the same time as Levothyroxine? And can you get a synthetic form?
TIA
Ellie

Any T3 you buy anywhere would be synthetic. You only get 'natural' T3 in NDT.
Starting dose should be around 5 mcg, depending on the size of the tablet - i.e. a quarter tablet.
How much it costs depends where you buy it. Prices vary.
Yes, you can take it at the same time as your levo, no problem.
I started with an eighth of a Tiromel 25 mcg pill, and really felt the difference, went up to quarter of a pill a few days later, and then slowly waited 4-6 weeks before adding eighth of a pill. Now take Thybon Henning 20 quarter pills x3 daily tho as FT3 only at 40% in range adding another eighth of a pill daily. I cannot be that accurate with these tiny bits, so catch the bits in the pill cutter to make up small doses! I get my TH from Roseway Labs : 100 20 mcg for £60 originally with private endo prescription but now thru their pharmacist prescriber (£30 appointment yearly plus own full thyroid blood tests thru Medichecks).
I recently paid £120 for 200 20mcg Thybon Henning tablets. I currently take 30mcg a day alongside 125mcg levo. (Taken as 75mcg levo and 15mcg T3 in the morning and 50/15 in the afternoon.)
I switched from NDT so started on 20mcg a day but just introducing it from scratch I'd expect to start much lower and slowly creep up your dose.
would you advise where to purchase the thybon as i cannot seem to find it anywhere thank you
I recently got it on private prescription from Smartway Pharmaseuticals, £65 for 100 x 20mcg. Am just starting on it after GP stopped giving me T3.
