Blood test timing - exactly 9 am… or?

FallingInReverse profile image

I am almost 3 weeks into new meds and am already getting excited to plan for my next blood test when I hit the 6-7 week mark.

My question today is about the recco that thyroid tests early “ideally just before 9am”.

Is 7:30… or 8 am… or 8:30 ok too? Or is 9 am the sweet spot?

Would it matter if you’re a night owl or early bird?

I am sure one of the most important things is to do under the same conditions every time.

But I am curious if I should actually make sure to do at 9 am sharp, or if 7:30 or 8 is also ok (since those earlier hours are more convenient for me).

The earlier hours will give a slightly higher TSH result which is why you will see folks recommending it. So go for 7.30 or 8
