Hi All,

Does anyone know if heat significantly damages levothyroxine? I'm a bit concerned now that my meds have been heat damaged this week... anyone's knowledge would be most welcome!

Many thanks, Elide

In the temperatures we get in the UK, even this year, generally no problem.

In the Patient Information Leaflet they usually say something like:

Do not store above 25°C.

OR

Do not store above 30 °C.

The temperature varies by product. But this doesn't mean you have to panic if it is warmer than that for a while.

Do your best to put it somewhere cooler as they say. But they know that it might be stored somewhere a little warmer for a while. (Known as an 'excursion'.) And that has been allowed for in the advice.

But do not place it somewhere directly heated by the sun.

And you don't want to allow multiple packs to keep getting too warm.
