I am on armour thyroid.. Are these optional numbers or should I be asking for a slight dose increase? My thyroid ultrasound came back good =) thankyou
I passed my tests I think..: I am on armour... - Thyroid UK
I passed my tests I think..
hey there, an important question would be how do you feel?
Any symptoms of hypothyroidism?
For me it would be; Dry skin, tiredness, aches, puffy face for others often constipation along with lots of other symptoms.
Personally I didn’t feel quite right until my TSH went under 1 and my FT4 and FT3 was higher in range, tricky finding the sweet spot. But we are all different.
Do you feel good and like you want to stick there? If so you found it 😊
I feel tired still..I have more energy that I did previously. I still have aches and pins and needles, constipation.. Everything is somewhat better. But I also have rheumatoid arthritis that I'm trying to get under control so I don't always know what is from what.
On that basis if it were me I’d trial an increase. How many weeks have you been on that dose? I found I needed to wait 8+ weeks to properly settle.
Pins and needles can be B vitamins and is also a coeliac symptom too.
Have you tested your vitamin levels via GP or privately recently? Raising D, B12, Folate and Ferritin for me have meant I absorb my thyroid replacement hormones better than before.
if you post your most recent vitamin results in another post you will get a pile on of wonderfully knowledgeable advice from admins and members 😊
I take b d and iron.. My last tests were good...d should be a bit higher I think. I have been on this dose for 7 weeks.. This is the first time I have had numbers in range lol ..I have been diagnosed for like a year. But I'm taking 120 mcg of armour and it looks like it skips up to 180 next.. That would probably be too much
Hello Tresa :
I can't see a Free T3 reading there but an uptake reading detailing 22-35% ??
We generally feel best once the TSH goes down to under 2 and probably under 1 and towards the bottom of the range.
No thyroid hormone works well until our core strength vitamins - those of ferritin, folate, B12 and vitamin D are up and maintained at optimal levels - do yo have any readings of these
I'm glad you have found some improvement with Armour and it does take time to settle within the body so just think you could ask for an increase as your results, as best as I can see them, are well in the ranges.
Hi Tresa. I am also on Armour NDT and my TSH is suppressed ( ca. 0.005). I need my fT4 in mid- high range and fT3 top of the range. I currently take 97.5- 90- 60mg split over day. It’s taken me since Oct 2020 to get this far! At the beginning I would raise in 15mg increments but as the dose got higher my body couldn’t cope with that and so I now raise in 7.5mg increments. ( I split a 15mg tablet using my thumbnail) I usually wait 8 weeks before raising. Armour is available in various amounts ( 15, 30, 60, 90mg) so you don’t need to jump from 120 to 180, that would probably be too much for your body to cope with!
PS Sorry about the underlines- can’t seem to remove on phone!
Hello !
I just happened to search a couple keywords and found your TSH is the same as mine but I am on three grains of armour. I’m not sure if it’s given the same in the UK but I would think so. they tried to convert my 3 to 4 5MCG’s of T3 liothyronine with 100 tirosint when my t4 and t3 randomly tanked and I asked to try anew med after so long on the others
of course most doctors will think .005 is an insane low number and I myself am wondering if I am going to destroy something in my body that low tsh. my amazing doctor retired and .1 was never a problem even .01 but my T4 is in mid to low optimal range my T3 is at the tip top.
I know I’m a low on D again but it’s a hormone I don’t really care to supplement these days I need to get it in foods and sun. I’m in Floridughhh. I know my Iodine is 30s and low but I’ve been told that if we don’t make hormones that’s irrelevant but I’m not sure I feel that way.
I have been under extreme stress the past couple years taking care of my grandmother until she passed and living with stressful Italian family lol. I am a single mother and after leaving my new young Doctor Who I thought was very well-versed I was very discouraged and ended up getting into a car accident trying to find a rheumatologist and endocrinologist. I am now without a car , a phone and a laptop and I’m using my mom’s iPad to get on this forum.
can you shed some light if that is a healthy OK TSH and why my T4 wouldn’t be so high but my T3 is topped. Please? and thanks! I know the doc Monday will cut I’d down yet she has yet to She tells me I have so much going on she’s not worried about that and it’s like really because that controls everything I had a really off menstrual cycle and I’m wondering if it’s due to the thyroid or if it was just because of the stress of the accident
I did manage to lose 10 pounds but I have been eating better or not enough sometimes. It has been impossible to regulate my thyroid and lose the 40 pounds I gained with my daughter and she is now six and I already had some weight on me and I’m very small boned with arthritis and Sjogren’s disease so it’s very hard on me.
I appreciate any insight and sorry this is so long oh I am on 3grains if I didn’t mention and that is 180 I’m supposed to cut a couple days and a half but the T3 has a half life so I don’t understand how to do that and it be right. Once I saw .005 I didn’t take my medicine for like a week.
Hi DeedellaD . My apologies for taking so long to get back to you. I've been away and hadn't had a chance to reply. I am sorry to hear about your loss, all the health issues and stresses in your life. It doesn't sound easy. I'm not sure I have enough expertise to advise you on your individual situation. I would suggest that you make a new post with the details you've provided me on your thyroid values with ranges and your most recent Vit D, B12, folate and ferritin results also with ranges. Then the wonderful and knowledgeable people on this forum can hopefully help you further. All the best and take care.
