Could someone advise on my blood results please? Test was taken 24 hours after levo dose and 12 hours after t3 dose. All my other bloods are OK. Feeling tired for months now and nausea is most days. Any suggestions? X
Blood results t3/levo combo: Could someone advise... - Thyroid UK
Blood results t3/levo combo
Free T4 (fT4) 17.6 pmol/L (12 - 22) 56.0%
Free T3 (fT3) 5.7 pmol/L (3.1 - 6.8) 70.3%
Some people are OK with a mid range FT4 but not everyone. You may need it slightly higher.
Do you have vitamin results and what are you supplementing with?
Do you know if you had positive thyroid antibodies? Many with autoimmune thyroid disease aka Hashimoto's benefit from a gluten free diet. A smaller percentage of those also need to remove dairy from their diet to feel well. These are intolerances and will not show up on any blood test.
Those are very similar to my levels on my long term doses and they suit me . But maybe they are not right for you It is very much trial and error and what suits the individual. Others on here would say that they need ft4 higher over 60%through range.
You would need to consider how long you've been on your current doses. Long enough to feel that the body has full adapted?
Do you want try different levels and doses? Could you manage small Inc in levo?
How much levothyroxine and T3 are you taking
Do you always get same brand levothyroxine/T3 at each prescription
Do you normally split T3 as 2 or 3 doses per day
Are you on gluten or dairy free diet
What were your reverse t3 and yor anyibody levels? Without those it is impossible to know if you dhould inctease t4 or t3 doses. Also taking a look at your cortisol, a1c, glucose snd insulin would help round out the picture.
reverse T3 is never tested in the UK. [There have been small research programs.]
A private rT3 test is expensive and is usually sent abroad for analysis.
There will be few here who have had rT3 tested, fewer still who have had rT3 tested regularly enough to be considered usable to manage dosing.
It is perfectly possible to manage dosing without rT3 tests. Indeed, there are many who question whether it has a role in managing dosing at all.
I've found in the past that fT4 below 50% and I start to flag...
I've just retested having swapped back to taking T3/4 in one dose in the morning (having been splitting T3) and my fT4 has dropped back from 47% to 25% ?? (same dose of 100mcg for 6 months) I'm now trialling T3 between 4-6am (pee time) and then T4 on waking to see if that makes any difference 🤷♀️ perhaps it doesn't like all the T3 competition in the stomach?
