Hiya,
I'm thinking of trying a small amount of T3 but what is the best times to take it and is it best to split it 2 to 3 times a day. Exact times would be helpful 🙂.
Thank you
Alis

It's a very individual thing. Some of us take it in one dose and that could be morning or bedtime. Some people split the dose and maybe take 2 doses 12 hours apart or 3 doses 8 hours apart or other timings. It really is a case of experiment and see what suits you.
Hi Seaside,
Thank you, can you take it together with thyroxine?
Thanks
😊
Yes you can. I split my levothyroxine dose first thing and bedtime so I have split my liothyronine t3 dose and take it with my levo
I take 100mcg of Levothyroxin (T4) and 20mcg of Liothyronin (T3) at 6am, then 20mcg of Liothyronin (T3) again at 11pm
Hi
I have 25ug is this 25mg and is it wise to just half or quarter them to start?
Thanks
Alis
As you are just starting with T3, you should quarter them, initially. Then titrate up to half, waiting a few weeks each time to see how each increase affects you. If you wade in straightaway at the full 25mcg dose, it is too much to start off with and if you increase too soon you might miss your "sweet spot". You may find that you never need a whole 25mcg. I feel OK on half a 25mcg T3 tablet, split into 2 doses, taken at 6.30am (with 100mcg thyroxine) and 5 pm. But as others have said, it's a very individual thing and whatever suits you best. Just don't start off with the whole 25mcg!

T3 and T4 are dosed in micrograms (mcg) not milligrams (mg).
People use ug because it's difficult to type the Greek micro symbol on a standard English keyboard. The micro symbol looks like a u with a tail on the left hand side :
μg
So your T3 tablets are 25 μg or 25 mcg or 25 micrograms and any of these are correct.
But most people just type 25 ug or 25 mcg to make life simpler.
keep forgetting the 3pm dose. What will happen if I took 10mcg in one go in the morning? Especially as I can then revert to morningside rather then Roma
Before considering adding T3 you MUST get FULL thyroid and vitamin testing
If vitamin levels are low you need to correct these first BEFORE considering adding any T3
all thyroid blood tests early morning, ideally just before 9am, only drink water between waking and test and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test
This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)
Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or all relevant vitamins
