Do I really need thyroid meds

I had hyperthyroidism for a few years treated with carbimazole. Dose was lowered & lowered and finally stopped altogether by consultant. I also have B12 deficiency treated with injection. Then when I asked for more B12 GP decided symptoms due to hypothyroid & started me on 25mcg thyroxine daily that was 4 yrs ago. I feel this medication is unnecessary in fact I wonder if it is causing symptoms such as skin problems. My GP is dismissive . Can anyone advise

Welcome to the TUK forum Montbretia (great user name by the way! )

Have you had thyroid blood levels checked recently:

TSH

FT3

FT4

In addition, it’s good to know levels of other key thyroid vitamins in addition to B12, folate, ferritin and vitamin D.

This information will help us to offer better advice.
