T3 Mania or just better energy?

hi all,

I’ve introduced 2.5mcg of T3 twice a day after coming to the realisation thyroid glandular wasn’t doing anything for me.

I’m on day 8 and this morning, 3 hours after taking my thyroid meds and have a sense of mania (giddy) feeling.

I am cutting 20mcg thybon henning into 1/4s and then cutting 1/4 in half - obviously not exactly 2.5mcg every time. This morning I might have had a little more than 2.5mcg and am wondering if it’s just more energy from slightly higher T3 or if T3 can cause mania episodes?

I haven’t been diagnosed with bipolar, but have been told by psychiatrist I have bipolar tendencies due to my thyroid (rapid cycling bipolar) and the DIO 1 and 2 mutations.

I noticed looser stool today and had to go more than once (apologies for too much info🙈) . No palpitations or anxiety (which is good as I had adrenal issues before and am taking supplements to assist adrenal fatigue).

Any thoughts?

it could mean you are taking too much but it also takes time for the body and cells to adjust to higher levels of t3. I had a strong very buzzed out response when I started t3 (and loose stools) but it settled. I subsequently increased my dose a little. I would give it more time if you can tolerate how you’re feeling now, then test and review.

I’ve been on the same sort of dose for 8 days, just today I may have had more as the cutting of the pill isn’t always exact. I noticed the different feeling and was just wondering. I’m only due to increase to 5mcg at day 14…so I suppose we will see next week if this feeling is repeated with the higher done and I will then know for sure if it’s the T3 😂

Really hope I can tolerate a higher dose 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

you are already on 5mcg though? If you are planning to increase you could wait until you are comfortable at this level rather than necessarily 14 days. Also check your heart rate. Peak increase in heart rate will be 10 hours after the dose. It lags behind the peak increase in serum t3 which is 4 hours because of time to move from serum to tissue

yes, 2.5mcg twice a day. I’ll be upping to 5mcg twice a day on day 14.

My resting heart rate is 55bpm.

So you still have a low rhr (mine is the same despite 15mcg t3). if you are measuring rhr on a smart watch it will mostly be taken from when you are sleeping. To reassure yourself about the effect of the t3 check it again 4 and 10 hours after your dose (either of them).

I’ve got a garmin so can see throughout the day. Will take note to look at 4 and 10 hours after my morning dose
