is that you in that snazzy outfit on the front? I’ve never met you but I can see you in a cape. If so, I’m envious and would like a set, I love a fancy dress outfit 💕💕🌱

Ah - that's interesting - I saw this lady as she was a guest speaker at Lyn's Thyroid UK conference awareness meeting - that aired last Thursday :

A video is in the making for those unable to have watched/listened to the ' live ' performance which I'm sure we will be notified about in due course.

Oooh great..... At last a book for children. Fantastic. Thanks Helvella. I'd not heard of her before. Who know it might also be a great starter point for some GPs to read too! Lol... 🙄🤣

I've just bought a copy.

At the moment my 7 year old just thinks it's cool I have the same illness as Michael Rosen. 😂

From Rachel's own write up it says:

"My own children inspired me to write this book, when I was asked questions such as “Why don’t you eat gluten?” and “Why is mummy more tired some days?”

So you never know. 😂

As a cute, slightly off topic anecdote:

My 7 year old was 4 when I first tried going Gluten free. She asked for one of my biscuits so I directed her towards the regular biscuits and explained that mine were just for me as they were 'Gluten free'.

Holding up a regular biscuit she asked 'does this have gluten 2 in it?' 🥺

And so, we will forevermore differentiate between Gluten 3 and Gluten 2. 😁

:-)

And no-one asked:

What is gluten 4?

My immediate response to this was a la Edwin Starr "absolutely nothing!"

I'd heard of the Invisible Hypothyroidism website, but never looked at it. This week I've seen its founder Rachel Hill on 2 webinars and was really impressed. So I have good hopes of her books too.

I follow Rachel on instagram and receive her newsletters. I also have her first two books, one about her own story and the other from her partners view. Both of these I have found useful. I find it very interesting and she will always say that all though this is her story not everyone is the same. She is a mum with two young children and it is very relatable in many ways. It is always good to know that many of us are on a long journey and know that it is not just us struggling.

We are all different. We are each individual.

The prime starting point for all medicine. And especially thyroid.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if doctors treated on an individual basis. Talking to my EP about anticoagulation as have had terrible problems with it. I'm taking half the dose. He told me oh yes they are researching into individual needs instead of population averages for anti coag. I was impressed but then I realised it wasn't individual at all but a subgroup of the half dose comparison. Not the same thought I.... Lol.

Absolutely 😀

I've just received and read my copy. It's a lovely book but I was a bit disappointed. I would say it's best for younger children as an introduction.

My kids already knew everything in it but I guess validates things for them because it's in a book.
