blood tests again

Sorry if this has already been answered. I am on combination therapy- Levo one a day and liothyronine 3 times a day.

my blood test is at 2pm - first appt with the endocrinologist since starting this dose.

can you advise whether I should fast all day until after the bloods and if the last medication should be the day before: thanks so much .

Fasting only affects TSH level. To avoid a dose reduction or when looking for a dose increase we want the highest possible TSH as most doctors tend to adjust dose by TSH. However, you are taking T3 and this is going to give you a low TSH anyway. Hopefully your doctor looks at FT4 and FT3 to adjust dose and not TSH .

Last dose of Levo should be 24 hours before the test and last dose of T3 should be 8-12 hours before the test. These are patient to patient tips which we don't discuss with doctors or phlebotomists.

Can you test early morning?

Do you always get same brand levothyroxine each prescription

Same question for T3

Which brands

Are you also getting vitamin D, folate, B12 and ferritin tested

What vitamin supplements are you taking

As you have Hashimoto’s are you on strictly gluten free diet and/or dairy free diet

thanks - no my appt is at the hospital so it will be 2pm. I take bio selenium and zinc - i take the same brand. T3 is Roma T4 is Teva. I am mainly gluten free - some dairy .
