I started taking amlodipine for high blood pressure a few weeks ago. I have been taking it at night, well away from my thyroxine which I take an hour before breakfast every day.
The practice nurse said I would be fine to take the two medications together, but I wondered if any of the thyroid experts on this forum might have different advice?
It would be simplest to take the two medications together, but I don't want to mess with my thyroid medication.
Thank you, SM

I was getting on fine taking thyroxine in the morning and amlodipine before bed, but then two days ago I took the amlodipine instead of my thyroxine first thing in the morning, and didn't notice till I went to take it at night...and then I didn't know what to do. Anyway, I will stick with my original plan and try not to mix up the meds. That should not be beyond me.
Thanks for your reply. I was expecting to hear that keeping them apart is best. It's so good to have knowledgeable people to ask.
Thanks for asking this question - I have just been put on Amlodipine and was taking them together☹️ I’ll have to work out a new strategy. It’s quite difficult separating out the things that shouldn’t go together isn’t it, eg iron. Hope your BP gets sorted. Take care. 🥰
Thanks Kazania, I only have the two meds so taking one in the morning and one at bedtime should work fine. I just need to pay a little attention. But yes, it can get quite tricky. I'm actually enjoying taking amlodipine because I was worried about my BP, but I'm hoping I can now lose weight nice and slowly (only way I can do it) and hopefully come off the BP meds down the road. My best health wishes to you too.
I also take Amlodipine…..and Lisinopril for hypertension. I take my Levothyroxine last thing before I go to bed (around midnight usually) and I take my other meds, including Amlodipine at around 8.00pm. I find this ok for me…..no problems as yet. I have always understood that Levothyroxine should always be taken separately from any other medication. I have always stuck to this so can’t comment on the effects if taken with Amlodipine.
