Anyone going through DEIVF with an underactive thyroid?

I was recently diagnosed with an underactive thyroid (over 7) in Spain during the process of deivf. I'm from the UK and my GP wanted to repeat the tests and is confirmed thyroid is low and I'm now on medication.

Has anyone had a similar experience going through DEIVF? Any successful stories?

I'm also trying a gluten free diet.

welcome to the forum

We have lots of members with endometriosis and/or TTC

Endometriosis and autoimmune thyroid disease may be linked

Have you had TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested for autoimmune thyroid disease?

How much levothyroxine has GP started you on

Which brand levothyroxine is it

Levothyroxine is a replacement thyroid hormone, rather than a medication. It’s very fussy, must be taken on empty stomach and then nothing apart from water for at least an hour after

No other medications or supplements within 2 hours

Some supplements, like iron, magnesium, calcium need to be at least 4 hours away from levothyroxine

Bloods should be retested 6-8 weeks after starting levothyroxine

ALWAYS test thyroid levels early morning, ideally just before 9am and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

Come back with new post once you get next results

Meanwhile essential to also test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

Important to see exactly what has been tested and equally important what hasn’t been tested yet

Bloods should be retested 6-8 weeks after each dose change or brand change in levothyroxine

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 tested

Also both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested at least once

Very important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 at least once year minimum

About 90% of primary hypothyroidism is autoimmune thyroid disease, usually diagnosed by high thyroid antibodies

Autoimmune thyroid disease with goitre is Hashimoto’s

Autoimmune thyroid disease without goitre is Ord’s thyroiditis.

Both are autoimmune and generally called Hashimoto’s.

Low vitamin levels are extremely common when hypothyroid, especially with autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto’s or Ord’s thyroiditis)

20% of autoimmune thyroid patients never have high thyroid antibodies and ultrasound scan of thyroid can get diagnosis

In U.K. medics hardly ever refer to autoimmune thyroid disease as Hashimoto’s (or Ord’s thyroiditis)

Recommended that all thyroid blood tests early morning, ideally just before 9am and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)

Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or all relevant vitamins
