Ileocecal Valve Syndrome

Has anybody had problems with Ileocecal Valve Syndrome.

Have had scan/bowel test and all clear. However, the pain on my lower right abdomen is unbearable. It has been suggested acupuncture - no help. Change of diet - no success so far and I am already on a very strict diet. My thyroid was removed in May last year and the problem started around September. My research suggests that can be a relation between thyroid/metabolism/ICV and added to that I have had my appendix out. Gp says on test results she cannot recommend any thing other than paracetamol. My thyroid meds have been increased to 100mgs as numbers not great via latest Medichecks.

Currently working with complementary therapies and probiotics to restore good gut health.

Gut issues in hypothyroidism are many and varied. Really all we can do is to optimise both thyroid levels and key vitamins then work on diet and the gut microbiome.

What were your latest results?

What supplements are you taking and what were your latest results of ferritin, folate, B12 & D3?

I have edited your photo of your results to remove your personal details. Not a good idea to publish it. :)

Indeed your numbers were not good at all thyroid wise and a few things to work on re vitamins. It will take time for both things to resolve and it sounds like you are doing all you can gut wise to improve microbiome. Time is a great healer.

Yep - no stress just patience. I ran hyper for years medicated with Carbi and now without a thyroid I feel my body is be-balancing…..and doing whatever I can. The link looks very interesting and helpful. Thank You.

Hello. C1949K

FT4 and FT3 are too low...

Medics are fixated on TSH but it is not a reliable marker as science proves

thyroidpatients.ca/2021/07/...

How long have you been on 100mcgs levo?

Test at least TSH, FT4 and FT3 after 6/ 8 weeks on a steady dose of 100mcg those results will point the way forward. You may need to increase to 125mcg Levo....or later, more

This is the cheapest way to test the above and discount available as follows

Monitor My Health private thyroid tests in the UK are carried out at the Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust laboratory. They provide an easily accessible, safe, regulated service that promotes disease prevention and wellness

Order a thyroid home testing kit and get a 10% discount using the code THYROIDUK10

T3 is essential to every cell in the body and must be available in a constant and steady supply. If cellular T3 is low, poor health is the result.

Your FT3 is 16.76% through ref range

FT4 is 24% ditto

Both Frees should be approx approaching 75% through their respective ref ranges....with the caveat that we are all different

Those results show you are considerably hypothyroid!

Providing your T4 to T3 conversion is good ( it seems to be) then raising your FT4 will in turn raise your FT3....and improve things!

My gut is affected if my T3 level is out of kilter!

Your results are marked green because they are in range....not because they are correct for you....this causes lots of problems for people because medics are often unable to correctly analyse lab results

Your GP appears clueless....but then many are regarding thyroid disease. That's why over 130,000 people have arrived here looking for help.

Just a few thoughts...

Good luck

Absolutely understand/agree! You will so much better once the thyroid has gone ‘they’ said! Well, still waiting! But the op had to go ahead because the goitre was causing problems. And to be fair, the specialist did say - it will take time as your body was running over for so long and we had to suppress the thyroid! I have only been on the increase to 100mgs for a week and will report to clinic in mid-May. Thank You for replying. And I was once told by the specialist….thyroids do funny things to different parts of the body! Thank You for taking the time to reply. This is a very supportive site.
