Mercury pharma ingredients

Could anyone in uk currently taking Mercury pharma levothyroxine check leaflet and let me know ingredients. I'm having side effects after starting eltroxin as mercury unavailable. My pharmacist insists they are identical but I didn't get side effects when taking Mercury. I checked online and site I found listed ingredients for Mercury which were different to eltroxin. Could be misinformation so just want to double check. Thanks

According to the PIL in my box, apart from anhydrous levothyroxine sodium, MercuryPharma also contain sodium citrate, lactose, maize starch, acacia powder and magnesium stearate.

Thanks for that. Yes they are the same as eltroxin. Don't know what website I found. I'm relieved really cause wasn't looking forward to confronting pharmacist. I do feel the side effects are lessening they were really bad at first mainly joint pain and stiff achey muscles, so maybe my body just adjusting because I have been given so many different brands over the last few months. Will stick with eltroxin and hopefully will sort itself out. Appreciate quick response x

Presumably you are in the U.K.

Taking 75mcg per day had blood test week ago but appt was 3.15 as they fitted me in same day I phoned I had taken my meds on morning. My results are available to me online but they only show one was 2.2 think that's t4 so they said normal. I do feel side effects are lessening I have been on eltroxin over three weeks now so hope they go completely.

Nikkisnow 'site I found listed ingredients for Mercury which were different to eltroxin. '

Eltroxin is a brand name used by different pharma companies, so chances are you were not seeing the UK version of this levothyroxin. e.g. Aspen Eltroxin is not the same product as the UK MercuryPharma Eltroxin.

If you want to look up ingredients of various prescribed drugs and medications you can see the Patient Information Leaflet for many of them at this website :

medicines.org.uk/emc

EMC stands for Electronic Medicines Compendium.

The emc doesn't contain a complete set of PILs for all prescribed drugs and medications used in the UK because it isn't compulsory for all manufacturers to supply them to the emc. I wish it was.

Searching the emc for Levothyroxine gives you 36 results :

Nikkisnow I’m curious if you ever found out if the other brand of Levo was the culprit for your symptoms? Taking Mercury Pharma Levothyroxine 25 mcg and trying to figure out the cause of my bloating and heartburn. It’s been about 6 months so I’m ready to be done with it :) 1tuppence you listed the ingredients of Mercury Pharma - would you know if those have changed at all since 2021 / 2022 ish? I’ve been on Mercury Pharma for years but maybe what I used to take is different, in some capacity , from what I’m taking now?

Not what you're looking for?
