Just read some of the interaction regarding this matter from 3 years ago. Found it very encouraging and strengthen my resolve to stand my ground. I do not want to take Statins and now feel there is hope. Encouraging - high cholesterol = longer life span
Statins can lead to shorter life span. Hmm - now to convince the GP.

"If you have an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism), treatment may be delayed until this problem is treated. This is because having an underactive thyroid can lead to an increased cholesterol level, and treating hypothyroidism may cause your cholesterol level to decrease, without the need for statins. Statins are also more likely to cause muscle damage in people with an underactive thyroid."
Thank you Slow Dragon for all this information. I realise this morning that the receptionist printed duplicate copies of 2 particular pages but not the page with B12, ferritin etc. So going up to the practice early to get it. The GP said she'd be testing for everything. She booked me into the out of hours catch up service in Bath. So the test was taken at 6.45 pm and I'd eaten about 5 pm Hmm not sure whether I ate afterwards. Otherwise, I'd have waited another week.
A month prior to my cholesterol test I started grinding 1Tbsp of flaxseeds and adding them to my fruit and veggies smoothie every morning and I increased my T4/T3 by just nibbling little pieces off both pills everyday (its not a lot of extra thyroid meds) My cholesterol have dropped 12 points and my HDL has raised by 3 points my doctor isn’t impressed, but I am it seems promising to me so I have to retest in 6 months.
Stand firm! My TOTAL, LDL and HDL were all high before I started taking T4, it's right down again now, although HDL (good cholesterol) is still slightly high, probably due to the amount of oats and avocado I eat (not together! ) I still haven't found my T4 sweet spot, but it's obviously working well enough to get my cholesterol back to normal
