doctor visit re blood results

Thankyou everyone who posted with advice. I went for my visit yesterday in trepidation thinking I would be quizzed …. which I was… regarding my high b12 levels. I explained that I was following the Nice guidelines as my year of going to the doctors had not helped me and that I fitted the symptoms for b12d. He just said ah that ok if there’s a reason for it then that’s ok.

and that was that ……I said I felt a significant improvement when taking b12 …. Which is totally how it is … like night and day. Thankyou all who gave me information … I at least was prepared to explain my reasoning ….

Probably the reason for you being quizzed is because if B12 is very high, but the patient hasn't been taking B12 supplements, then there might be some unpleasant reasons for it.

But in anyone who has been taking B12 supplements a high result for B12 would not offer any clues to whether something unpleasant was going on or not.

I keep my B12 levels very high because I discovered it keeps some almost life-long problems away. I suspect I have a functional deficiency problem but haven't sought a diagnosis :

Thankyou after my consult that is exactly the case and the Doctor just wanted to understand why they were so high …. He understood when I told him I was self medicating .
