Hello Mozzymoo :
Looking back I see you had issues with high ferritin and inflammation - are these resolved now and do you also have readings for ferritin, folate, B12 and vitamin D.
Your results ' looked much better ' when taking NDT as you had high T3 and a relatively low T4 which is how NDT blood tests present and dropping the T3 you were also taking would have likely seen your T3 in the top of the range, and likely eradicated the symptoms you were then suffering.
So anyway what medication are you now taking ?
These results show a low suppressed TSH - an over range at T4 at 24.10 and a T3 at 4.50 :
So the accepted conversion ratio if taking T4 - Levothyroxine only is said to be 1 / 3.50-4.50 with most people feeling their best when their T4 is up in the top quadrant of the range and their conversion coming in at 4 or under.
So if we divide your T4 by your T3 your conversion ratio is coming in at around 5.35 showing poor conversion and a thyroid struggling to function well.
I would think it better if your dropped some T4 to get back into range and consider adding in some T3 to restore hormonal balance of your T3 and T4 readings.
Unfortunately I can't take t3. It caused a tia. I thought that it wasn't worth risking a full blown stroke.
Fair enough - so maybe think of going back to NDT - it looked to be working well for you and I don't understand why you were adding more T3 to the NDT in the first place anyway.
The ratio of T3 and T4 in NDT is around 1/4 and suits many thousands of people and gives you a hormonal balance of T3/T4 and it reads that this option suited you better.
My ferritin levels are coming down slowly and I've started b12 injections
Ah, so this may well improve conversion of T4 into T3 - as non optimal levels of ferritin, folate, B12 and vitamin D can down regulate T4 to T3 conversion as can any physiological stress ( emotional or physical ), depression, dieting and ageing :
So the target is not static and can fluctuate somewhat as we age etc but at least if you can find the replacement option that suits you best it just may need tweaking a little as time goes by.
