Alternate days of dosing

Can anyone advise? I have recently reduced to 75/100 of thyroxine as a trial due to symptoms. I take one brand and half the tablet. Does it even out over time so that symptoms improve?

Thank you.

Yes alternate day dosing is like a 12.5mcg dose change and will even out in time.

Did you ever get full thyroid function bloods to show your FT3, also vitamins - ferritin, folate, B12 and D3? Your FT3 was looking low on the last test you posted.

Thank you for the details. My T3 was 4.9 (nhs range 3 to 6). But I will check this. If range is correct, is this still low? My vitamins end of Nov 22 were in the normal range.

Vitamins in the normal range are not good enough. You need OPTIMAL results. What were the results please?

It looks like your doctor is dosing you by TSH which isn;t good at all as yours is very low.

Your FT3 was around 50% so you are now likely to get more hypo symptoms if you reduce dose.

Thanks again. I will check my vitamin levels from November. How do you work out the t3 range at 50%? I thought 4.9 was in the upper bracket going by nhs range of 3 to 6.

You really need to double check what range YOUR lab is using. They differ from lab to lab and not the same throughout the NHS. Eveen a few points can make quite a difference. Use the calculator below once you have the correct reference range.

You're very unlikely to be getting hyper symptoms from your previous blood results, more likely suboptimal vitamins.

hallo yes it evens out… I take 100/100/100/75 (repeat) and it’s absolutely fine. I had to tweak for a long time to find this dose but I believe it’s working well now - hang in there 😊
