Hello everyone, I have graves disease and TED since 2018.I had a thyroidectomy June 2022 and am doing well.Just before christmas I saw 2 fingerprint size rasberry red marks on the front of my shin.Pharmacist said could be a bite, practice nurse said not cellulitis didn't know what it was.Itchy and tender to touch.Prescribed daktakort hydrocortisone cream and it went in about a week.Last week same happened on my other leg but 3 circular marks this time.Used cream and they are now fading.Could this be graves dermopathy? All photos on internet show it covering lower legs not in patches.Any advice would be much appreciated.

Did you see this page?

(Also mentioned on several other pages - this is a link to a site search: dermnetnz.org/search.html?q... )
Thankyou very much for these links. Some of the photos I have seen as I have been looking myself.I don't have any swelling but the bright redness is there. If it happens again I may go to doctors and ask if it could be this.I only thought about it after I had been.Glad it's winter and I have trousers on.It stuck out like the preverbial sore thumb.

I had patches on my shins and my endocrinologist suspected graves dermopathy. He said that it can be linked to those of us with TED, as in yet another auto immune response! My patches reduced when I introduced Liothyronine (thus getting my FT3 higher in range) and interestingly this also helped reduce some eye swelling.
Thankyou for your reply. When I was looking on the internet for info I saw a link with TED and it said it's an auto immune response .I'll bear in mind the link with T3 levels aswell.I was trying to rack my brain as to anything different I had eaten or drunk or done differently, then the dermopathy came into my mind. The cream has worked which is good but if it happens again I have a bit more info.
