MA (manufacturing authorisation)/ PL (Product Licence) details

So far as I know, all UK medicines have their MA (manufacturing authorisation)/ PL (Product Licence) details on the outside of the package.

There should never be any need to open a pack to check. This makes it easy to check at the counter when you pick up the prescription.

The attached photo shows Accord product branded as Almus.

Hello Helvella,

When I clicked on the link, indicated by Susie in replying to a post , to yout dropbox I was asked to join or open an account…. Had no idea one had to do so. Once I had done so I was informed it would be free for one month…. Was rather surprised. I certainly wasn’t informed it would be a subscription, so do you know why this has happened and how do I stop this? Bear in mind I am a technophobe…. Hope you can help. Thank you.

You do not need to join Dropbox, subscribe, or any such thing.

However, it is possible that Dropbox will try to make you think you have to.

I hope you didn't supply any form of payment, card number, etc.?

What sort of device are you using?

(I find it difficult to help as all my devices are logged into my Dropbox account. And I only use a free account! Because of that, my experience won't be the same as yours.)

Thank you for replying. No. I did not provide any form of payment…. Had I been prompted to do so I would have stopped straight away. They’re crafty… it was only I ce I submitted my email address I saw their service would be free for a month. They sent me an email for verification… I didn’t do so but sent them a reply asking them to ignore my subscription demand. No reply but hope that it will be ok. I use an IPad.

Am due to have a hip replacement operation in 1st February, so hope they won’t contact me in a month’s time. Anyway did not provide a card number so it should be alright. Feeling quite foolish.

Don't feel foolish! They have people paid to think up ways of making us do what they want.

I'd like to get away from Dropbox but the alternatives each have their own issues!

Thank you so much for your understanding and kindness. Hopefully nothing will come of it now… just a warning to all of us. One has to be so careful.

Thank you too for your good wishes regarding the hip replacement… although I have been warned it could be cancelled at the last minute if there is no bed available for me post op.

It’s not the best time to undergo such surgery because of the desperate crisis the NHS is in and the high rates of Covid and flu at my local hospital at the moment. Fingers crossed but I feel very stressed as I cannot find a place in a care home for respite for 6 weeks. I couldn’t cope alone because my RA will flare up post op, having to stop using my biologic drugs priory to and at least 2 weeks post operation. So it’s not just recovering from the surgery but having to cope with the added RA flare up. I wish I didn’t have to go through that, It feels like a nightmare at the moment.

I notice you've got rheumatoid arthritis. You may be interested in this research which has found that it might be caused by a previously unknown bacteria that modifies the immune systems T cells and causes them to attack the joints. It suggests antibiotics are not the answer as they kill off good bacteria as well as bad.

Hello BB001 and thank you for the link. I will look at it later. I have already seen some articles mentioning that bacteria might be one of the causes for RA. It would be good that researchers finally find what actually causes this dreadful life changing disease. Very complicated. I hope people can be helped in preventing getting full blown RA in future, the sooner the better. Best wishes.
