Giving up supplements prior to Medichecks Advanced thyroid blood test 4 days from now

Hi there! I am scheduled for a nurse to come and do a blood draw on Wednesday morning for a Medichecks Advanced thyroid blood test. I understand I am supposed to give up all supplements 4 days prior to the sample. However, I drink chiia four times per day and usually take it with pea protein powder. This makes me feel a ton better as I think I have a blood sugar problem. I'm also severely constipated without the chiia 🀫 Sorry if this is tmi! I'm just wondering if chiia and pea protein are considered supplements? It will increase my suffering quite a bit over the next four days to go without them. It might even adversely affect my health as I generally cannot go #2 without the chiia. Maybe I just have to continue to take them and hope for the best as going without would be so difficult. I am registered with Country Health and they recommend only 2 days without supplements and I think they mostly mention Biotin (which I do not take) so I'm pretty confused. I have quite a few supplements recommended by Isabella Wentz that really help me so if you know of any supplements that ARE okay, please let me know. Apologies for the long question!

The main issue with supplementspre blood test are those that contain biotin which is usually only in B complex. This is as it interferes with the blood test which uses biotin in its process. Otherwise there is no need to stop taking supplements at all.

Chia & pea protein would be concidered foods.

Oh wow πŸ˜€ This is incredibly good news, Jaydee! Thank you so much! I will feel so much better over the next four days if I'm able to keep taking most of my supplements. I'm so grateful for your help and hope you have a lovely day 😍

BTW, many supplements are a waste. Better to do bloods for ferritin, folate, B12 and D3 and get those optimal. πŸ˜‰

Yes, I'm sure I am taking some unnecessarily! The advanced thyroid test will probably help a lot, but I'm also looking for a functional medicine doctor to help me figure out what is needed. Maybe I'll know more once I start going to Country Health. They have a lot of tests available. I'm just going to have to be careful to avoid draining my bank account too much in the process. Thanks again! You're very kind πŸ˜€

You will find your way The-Wasp! In addition to supplements as needed consider going GF. It has made a big difference to me!! Not everyone benefits but many do. Good luck....& keep.posting!

It's a good idea to give up iron supplements for 5 - 7 days before any iron-related test.

Thank you! So kind of you to reply! I don't take iron and instead eat lamb or beef meatballs with a betaine and pepsin plus ascorbic acid. Great point though! I stopped taking all vitamin supplements to be on the safe side, but am keeping adaptogens, maca, innositol etc as they seem to be okay. So nice to have support finally! Can't say how much I appreciate it πŸ˜€
