Royal Mail Caught on Camera Binning My Vitamin Tablets

Just to alert you that when out yesterday for a short while Royal Mail knocked and upon receiving no answer looked around and decided to put the box of vitamins (totalling £72) into the green wheelie bin which was at the edge of our front drive waiting for the refuse collectors. When we returned home we found their card saying they had called and had put the package in a "Safe Place" - the green wheelie bin! I immediately registered a complaint with RM and all ended happily as the company will now send me another order (as soon as RM strike over).

However, it did then make me think that I had better change back to collecting my imported NDT direct from the depot as I had changed it when the pandemic started and had been having it delivered to my door. I thought I should just alert others!

Makes me so glad that I have an enclosed front porch. All posties and delivery drivers leave my parcels in there. I've never understood why any delivery person thinks it's OK to leave in a wheelie bin, especially when it's out in a fairly obvious "waiting to be emptied" place, and they're certainly not the most hygenic of places to leave a parcel, most smell pretty bad 🙄

I absolutely agree with you Susie - is it really too much trouble to knock on next door neighbour's door - we frequently take in parcels for others. I'm just so glad that it wasn't the thyroid meds!

Sounds like RM need to introduce IQ testing for their new recruits... 🙄

Have to say, I think we are lucky. I literally cannot imagine our posties doing that. They are uniformly at least good and many are great.

Likewise most other deliverers. It seems to be the very odd one not so good - and I suspect they are often just taking over a round for the day.

Saying this because I think, regardless opinions on their pay and strikes, etc., it is good to highlight that many good ones exist.

You are right of course hellvella - our usual postie is a lovely man and we've never had cause to complain about RM ever before but the situation did seem to be particularly ridiculous.

I have to admit, our postie ( even though he’s the grumpiest I’ve ever met) is very good and knows where to leave my parcels as do most delivery drivers… the only ones that don’t are those from EVRI (Hermes as was) They always leave parcels outside the gate even though there is a bin clearly marked “PARCELS” just inside the gate… We live in a very rural area and it would be so easy for someone to just stop, steal my parcels and I would never be the wiser! My heart sinks whenever I see that a company has used EVRI to deliver anything…

There's always one who doesn't comply which is a shame as you clearly have a good system in place. As I said before this is the first time this has ever happened to us but it did make me concerned purely because things may not have ended quite so nicely if hundreds of pounds of thyroid meds had been put in the dustcart😀

We have a very good team of posties, who are always careful where they leave any post. ( I hope they get the rise they deserve and dont lose their jobs because of the stupid charges that are trying to be put in place. )

I would also happily recommend our postie for postman of the year award as he is always cheerful whatever the weather and I agree with you that I hope they get their rise. It obviously was a one-off situation and helvella hit the nail on the head when he mentioned it probably wasn't our usual postie but it all ended happily anyway😀
