High BP ? With UAT

Long story short recently been in AE as suspected over dosed on T3 but was being what I thought was super careful. If I’m honest in 4 years I’ve never found a balance and tried to do things by the book daily !

now I have high BP and unsure if I should take my meds this hour or leave them! For days I’ve been fine on this exact dosage but tonight it’s all gone wrong !

how do you all know if you need another T3 or not if your stats are showing signs of struggle ?

Sorry to hear about your trip to A&E, that is never fun.

what is your usual dose and what are your most recent blood test results?

Do you have symptoms of over medication?

Do you think you took too much in error or have you been experimenting with your dose?

Hope you are able to settle yourself and make sense of it all. 🦋💚🦋

Hi Anon,

Are you trying to manage Thyroidyourself or are you supported by doctors?

Are you saying high BP is related to thyroid meds or coincidental?

Maybe share a bit more with us like recent tests for thyroid.

Best wishes

Fiona

I’ve just found out I have the gene which means I cannot convert T4-T3 so yes I medicate myself as I knew this before as felt it I’m on T4 & T3 but now I’m going to move to T3 only ! Not supported fully by docs no as they don’t like us being T3

You were going to have a TFT done a month ago. Did you get it done in the end? If so it would be helpful to see the results. 🙂

TFT thyroid bloods ? My thyroid bloods showed a few weeks back I was over medicated but since then dropped my T3 right down so not sure why I could still have sudden high BP at night as fine during day

BP can just change. I have labile hypertension so it's all over the place basically. That was on Levo only btw. I'm hoping mine might settle once my folate levels improve. What were your latest vitamin levels? Maybe best redo thyroid function tests in a few weeks on your new dose.

thanks yeah my doc wants another panel done in a few weeks but now I’m going to drain more of my T4 out as I just had the gene test shows I’m not converting so will just try and cut it in half again and reduce this too might help matters ! I’ve got T3 so will adjust things a little more :) thanks will keep eyes on BP now daily :) hope you find a balance x

That sounds like you're changing things a lot in a short space of time. Slow and steady wins the race! I think I've read on here that even with the DIO2 gene you only need 10mcgs T3 in addition to levo.

I forgot to add that since dropping my T3 to 5mcg each time I’m feeling much better but I do still need to cut some T4 and I’m actually only even on 25mcg!!! So yeah don’t worry I’m stabilised now since my AE visit and will very slowly cut T4 over next 4-8 weeks
