Please forgive my ignorance, but as someone with hashimotos and currently fighting the flu,I was wondering if my body is slower to recover than someone without hashimotos? I've been ill for weeks now and my energy doesn't seem to be returning. I've also noticed that I can feel my heart beating really strongly and into my stomach too. Can anyone comment please?

Good question.
Reading this article today, I was wondering about how doctors characterise the basic immune system of an auto-immune person and how this presents in practice.
yes for me, hubby and I can both catch a bug, he feels rough for 24-48 hours. Me… more like 2 weeks. It’s like I have to fight off the bug then repair the damage done by the bug. Listened to a podcast that explained this in medical terms but my poor Pooh bear brain didn’t really register how it all works. It’s this one podcasts.apple.com/gb/podca...
what I have found is I need to rest up more than I previously thought, sleep hours and hours longer (not always possible), stay on top of nutrition and supplements, keep stress to a minimum (again sometimes impossible) and accept this is my new normal (CBT helped with this).
A friend at yoga whose been on Levo many years says she ups her Levo by 25mcg when she has a bug and drops it down again after. Seems to help her, I haven’t tried that myself.

I find that really interesting. I had a suspected UTI last week, knocked me for 6. After I felt 'well', I still felt really tired and down. This has happened after getting colds too, and after having COVID. I felt guilty about taking an extra day or 2 off work, when really I was just trying to get back on an even keel. It was hard to think straight, at the time, but now on reflection I can see that I had recovered from the infection, just needed to get the thyroid back on track too...
