I’ve posted a few times recently and we are all exhausted with events.
My daughter has recently started on carmibazole and her husband tested positive for covid today. She has symptoms but is testing negative, twice. The leaflet with the meds warns about infections etc. She is trying to speak to GP and/or pharmacy. Any advice on here please re continuing the carmibazole? .

“If this patient has a sore throat, fever or mouth ulcersthese symptoms may indicate agranulocytosis. ATD (anti thyroid)medication should be stopped immediately and a fullblood count must be checked urgently. ATD should not be restarted unless the blood count normal.
They are checking for drop in white cells.
Some Covid symtoms can match.
I’ve been taking carbimazole over 3 years.
1st time I tested positive for covid I had minimal symptoms.
2nd time had nasty temp & felt rotten. Probably should have had a test done but fell on a weekend & by time doctor called I was on the mend.
Thank you Purple Nails. The GP said she should have a full blood count so that has now happened. Apparently covid symptoms and the very rare ( neutropenia?) symptoms from the med, are indistinguishable, which is a concern. Meanwhile, to carry on with the carbinazole.
