Why are our hypothyroid patients unhappy? Is tissue hypothyroidism the answer?

Yes link works!

Read the article with an open mind....it's basically food for thought!

You will be aware that we must consider more than just TSH as a marker....at least FT4 and FT3, ideally a full thyroid panel.

T3 ,as the active thyroid hormone, is critical to good health so FT3 is the most important reading followed by FT4.....as research proves.

All things being equal T3 reaches the nuclei of the cells in the body ,via T3 receptors , where it becomes active and carries out it's work....job done!

But low cellular T3 will cause hypothyroid symptoms requiring replacement hormones...commonly T4, occasionally T3

Also, be aware that we cannot measure the level of cellular T3.

Cellular, rather than glandular hypothyroidism is a conclusion based on thorough previous testing along with clinical evaluation and unlikely to be accepted by NHS medics. I believe it to be a consequence of (my) Thyroid Hormone Resistance....it's very complicated to establish and rare.

After many years of searching for answers to my (thyroid) ill health it appeared as a highly likely conclusion. So yes, it's complicated just don't expect a GP or an endo to embrace the idea!!

I'm no expert ....this is based on my personal experience and research.

Yes, I thought this was quite a clear explanation why bloods might look ok but if you have been lacking in T3 for a length of time it is likely going to take a long time to replenish cells if they can be re-awoken.

I've been on T3 now for 2 months and after the initial rush of wellness I am aware everyday of little steps towards the old me that I recognise but haven't been for 5 years+.

This huge leap forward has been largely thanks to you and your shared wisdom... 👏👏please take a bow 🤗
