I've just come across this product that states it juvenates hair follicles:-
"Even though the primary function that Hair Up is advertised for is to restore your hair, it states it also helps you to prevent alopecia from setting in. This purpose is likely the reason that the company recommends the formula for children as well."
I was lookIng at the list of ingredients & wondering if the carbomer was the same as in eye ointment…. Just looked it up and it’s an emulsifier. I wonder if any forum members have tried this hair product as the study was conducted in 2016?
Hi my daughter is taking Biotin, not sure of the dose, but her hair has grown and thickened her nails are stronger and even the outer third of her eyebrows have returned.
Hi Shaws. Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) essential oil is meant to help with hair renewal. There are other essential oils said to help. I reckon trying a blend of those essential oils might prove more beneficial than the shampoo? Yet another shampoo, said to help, is a horse shampoo, called Mane and Tail. How's your ferritin? Hugs xx
You're welcome Shaws. 30 yrs ago I trained as an aromatherapist I've also heard of good results from the Mane and Tail shampoo......but as with everything, it's an individual response, isn't it? If you like I can check out other essential oils? One colleague found that Neroli ess oil helped one of her clients. Neroli is a Kings Ransom to buy .....
amphora-aromatics.com/?idU=2 If you check out this Aromatics company, they are doing a special offer on one of their own shampoos which contains both rosemary and sage x They are a reputable company and I buy my essential oils from them.
Thank you. I thought I'd remembered that, but needed to check before saying. You've saved me looking it up Do you have access to the report? Pretty sure it also mentioned Rosemary...oh yes, and Lavender too...though Lavender is not advised for low blood pressure nor pregnancy.
No sorry I remember it was Korean research though, they found diluted Peppermint oil encouraged growth and slowed further loss as effectively as Regaine but at a fraction of the cost and with fewer side effects. Peppermint was a very good local vasodilator and encourages blood flow to the follicles.
Minoxidil has other unwanted side effects such as growing hair on your chin, or affecting the heart. My NHS dermatologist told me that this was the only thing that works but then explained the possible side effects. Put me off and I decided not to bother.
hair only grows in places you put it, thorough hand washing is an absolute must. only prob I have with it is after you stop applying hair begins to drop again.
Hi Shaws , I lose a lot of hair but then it never seems to look bad even though I lose quite a bit when shower and comb. And I always have had fine hair so not tons to lose
Firstly I make sure that I do not use any product with rubbish ingredients. So no typical shampoos. I use Pure Nuff Stuff shampoo hair and body bar (small shop in Cornwall with website). Lather your hands and keep smoothing on to your hair. Then pull your fingers/nails through your hair and rinse. That's how you are suppose to use. So you are not lathering / foaming up your hair and so not tangling your hair which is brilliant . No nasties which is why I use, just oils and essential oils. Not saying it prevents falling out - but you are not harming your hair/ scalp /follicles which you are with commercial shampoos
Secondly I supplement with Collagen - excellent for hair growth and nails, skin, skeleton and everything else. You really notice the obvious effects of quick hair and nail growth. Great Lakes Collagen powder - Green tub. disolve in hot drink such as coffee, I drink cocoa - no taste, if anything makes it taste like maltesers. I have taken for years as with using the shampoo bar. But I have started using a collagen powder which is identical and a little cheaper and a new British company - Hunter & Gatherer Collagen powder
I always feel, firstly don't harm, secondly support - so no chemicals. Check out the harmful rating of toiletry /makeup ingredients on the EWG Skin Deep data website
I would give it a miss. Melissa officinalis, also known as lemon balm, is known to suppress the thyroid function and interferes with the absorption of thyroid hormone replacement therapy. This may just be when taken internally but I wouldn’t risk using the essential oil at all. I was gutted when I found out as it had been my favourite herbal tea for years and I had to stop drinking it. I did notice a difference though so it was definitely worth stopping.
ooh thanks for that info Annajames. I have a lemon balm plant growing outside in a planter and am always tempted on occasions to make Lemon Balm tea . It is the same family as the mint. Will it apply to mint too
