advice on hot feet in bed
I experienced very hot feet when under medicated on Levothyroxine. Do you have thyroid blood test results to share Mazza4; then members can better advise.
I dont get my results from my gp they only ring if theres any changes needed, thank you 😊
Well you need to get copies emailed to you, or printed off and you collect them. You are entitled to copies. They are your results. Simply ring reception and ask for copies of your past 2 or 3 year's blood test results, including the reference ranges, and tell them you want them by email or to collect. Don't take being fobbed off. It's your right to have them. If they question why, you simply say "for your records". Most of us don't have a problem at all once we pluck up the courage to first ask. The surgery sends mine to me straight away they get them in now. If the doctor want's to talk about anything he get's in touch.
When people post about the feeling of burning, especially of feet, I quite often post this link.
It is getting on a bit but nonetheless it does give an overview of the causes of burning feet.

Just to add to the two replies already given - take a look to the right of your post as you will then see related posts and can read what others have done or have taken to eliminate the problem. Everything has to be worth reading and I hope you find a solution.
How much levothyroxine are you currently taking
What are your most recent thyroid results
TSH, Ft4 and Ft3
Important to test vitamin D, folate, B12 and ferritin at least once a year
What vitamin supplements are you currently taking
What are your most recent vitamin results
Low B vitamins can cause burning feet
I am currently taking 125mcg daily, I have been on this dose around 2 years , I take a Vit D tablet I do not get my results gp only says if any changes needed we will contact you , thanks 😊
You are legally entitled to have your full blood test results, including ranges. I suggest you ask your gp’s practice manager for a print out and then share your results here for more informed advice. We’ve all been through the whole “your results are normal/fine… we’ll contact you if there are any changes” at one stage in our thyroid journey and it’s better to wise up sooner than later.
You are legally entitled to have copies of all test results. You can ask at Reception . Surgeries should now have on-line access for patients to see their notes - so worth asking. There will be forms to complete.
It is important we check results to monitor our own progress and to check what has been missed. It also makes posting here easier !
Was the VitD prescribed by your GP ? Important to know the test result as dosing is based on the result. If VitD was low then it often follows that B12 - Folate - Ferritin will also be low. Sadly these are NOT routine tests and need to be requested. Good levels needed to enhance thyroid treatment. Another good reason to keep track of your results ! Low B12 could be part of burning feet. A condition that was referred to in the past as ' Socks and Gloves ' 🌻
Thank you, no Vitamin D not given by gp, I have been taking 75mg during winter months for a few years to support Healthy Bone and Muscles 😊
Taking Magnesium and VitK2- MK7 with VitD supports the bones and muscles - they are important co-factors. Do you take these ?

How low was vitamin D
When did you start taking vitamin D
When we start improving low vitamin D, we need more B vitamins
Burning feet or peripheral neuropathy suggests you need to start taking daily vitamin B complex
Suggest you get Folate, B12, ferritin and vitamin D tested
Via GP or privately
Always test thyroid early morning, ideally just before 9am and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test
This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)
Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or all relevant vitamins

Come back with new post once you get old results from GP and/or new test results
I have taken vit D 75mg over winter months for a few years to support Healthy bones and muscles , will ring gp and ask for new test and come back with results Thank you 😊
Always get copies of test results
Many thyroid patients need to supplement vitamin D continuously….perhaps at higher dose in winter than summer
Test twice yearly via NHS private testing service when supplementing

Are you taking the co-factors ? - mentioned in my earlier reply 🐱
I have just started taking magnesium this week at bedtime, but will look into others Vit K 2
Zephyrbear is so right, do phone or email your GP & ask for a print out of all your thyroid blood tests (with ranges- as labs can vary).
What GPS say is ‘within range’ may not be ‘optimal’. So many members here would be very poorly indeed if they didn’t monitor their own health and thyroid levels. If your GP won’t test Ft3 and Ft4, I’d suggest looking to do this privately (as many members do).
Buy yourself an ordinary rubber hot water bottle. Put some cold water in it and put it in your bed to cool your feet off when they are hot. If your feet then get too cold just move the hot water bottle further away or drop it on the floor until you need it again.
Obviously finding a cause for your hot feet would be the best solution, but at least my suggestion might make things more bearable in the meantime.
Have you had your b12 checked recently ? Could be that
Hi Mazza4 lots of great constructive advice from people but just to try to cope with the problem in the short term I suggest using a hot water bottle filled with cold water from the refrigerator to put your feet on. It does make life a little more comfortable. Good luck
I get the burning feet and keep a cold hot water bottle in the bed it helps some when I place my feet on it to cool down
