hi all, it’s good to join this group , I’ve lived well with thyroid condition for a long time now I’m seeking to understand more and connect with a thyroid specialist . My doctor is great in testing for free T3 and T4 but treatment not changing and I want to explore other avenues . I’ve had functional testing and know what I’m intolerant too but digestion getting worse and menopause adds to the mix !

Welcome to forum.

How long have you had under active thyroid? What replacement & how much do you take & which brand?

Many have been denied FT4 & FT3 testing. Often even if GP requests it, the lab drops it if TSH in range. (TSH is unreliable)

There is a number of private blood testing companies. Offering a mix of tests options.

It can be ordered online, kit for finger prick sample (or extra fee for phlebotomist visit, certain companies)

Here a link with list of companies & discount codes.

A basic TSH FT4 & FT3 is available with discount by monitor my health (NHS lab)

Other companies offer ones with thyroid antibodies and key nutrients.

Had you had any recent tests? Post them (with range) and we can advise further.

Poor digestion can be sign of under replacement. Low stomach acid can be issue? Doctors often assume high stomach acid.

Welcome to the forum. So we can offer better advice & support, do ask your GP for copies of thyroid blood tests & share results (with ranges).

Regarding menopausal symptoms, it may be useful to have a look at Dr Louise Newson’s free Balance App, as I find it really useful for comparing HRT medications & having up to date research articles. There is also an ability to post questions.

Hi, thank you I have had hypothyroidism for 30 years and have been well overall with it. At the moment with menopausal symptoms and recent covid I feel dreadful. My doctor is supportive and will test for T3 and T4. Awaiting results from test last week, I want to explore NDT and T3 hence looking to go with a private practitioner . Will post test results when I get that - thanks again
