Can you link to the sources of this information please. It's important to know whether this sort of information comes from reliable sources, long term studies, etc.

Hi Susie,I'm sorry I don't have that information,it was relayed to me by a concerned friend who had been doing some research online. I know this is unhelpful, but it did give cause for concern as you can imagine as I have been taking T3 and NDT for over ten years.

Thank again.

I have been taking thyroxine since about the age of 5 or 6 which is nearly 70 years ago. All medications have some sort of side effects. Usually the fillers in them with tablets. You just have to get the right ones.

So your friend didn't send you the article? Perhaps you can ask your friend for the source. We can't go posting things like this which is very likely to worry or upset some members without showing the source. Posting guidelines state:

Without a credible source this is just scaremongering.

How about fifty-two years on desiccated thyroid (which, of course, has both T4 and T3):

Do bear in mind, this paper is dated 1946 and, despite our many misgivings about medicine, there have been huge leaps forward since then.

If we have a thyroid problem, we take thyroid tablets to help remove the problem. I take NDT which is the closest I can get to what my poor old thyroid should produce.

No one ever said naturally producing thryroid hormones for the correct level for you is damaging. You are just putting back what should be there. I hope this helps, Bear in mind there is a lot of information out there that is pure rubbish, either to scare people or to sell something.

Researchers have to bid to get money to do research. Often the results are what the people are paying for, and if the research does not show this, it does not get published. Dont worry, there are many of us out here doing OK taking thyroid pills!
