I am still undiagnosed but have been reading alot of posts on here. I saw that low a resting heart rate is another symptom.
my question is, can this be harmful, can it be corrected if medicated and also, how serious do doctors take a low resting heart rate as a symptom of hypothyroidism?
my resting heart rate is 49 atm.

I will be interested in the answers to your question. At diagnosis in March my rhr was 47-48. 5 months later it is 50 but it’s only very recently that I haven’t been grossly under medicated so it’s too soon to say what the positive effects of medication might be. It’s too soon to know if 50 is an consistency upward trajectory. I’m expecting it to take time. The heart has to adapt. But surely with more thyroid hormone it must go faster. I wait for informed comment.

I've just been treated for low b12 with injections so now at 2000. (196-771)Same for vit D....now at 147 (50-144)
Folate still low 8.8 (3.8-26.8)
Ferritin fine as what I can see 95 (15-150)
I'm not veggie or vegan. I eat a balanced diet but do like the odd glass of wine.
I'm now on over the counter supplements. Vitamin d and b12.
I havnt had a scan.
My gp has said everything is fine. No follow up. Even though I feel my FT4 is low and my TSH is slightly raised.
I'm off to see a rheumatologist on the 16th as I have nerve issues (some which have disappeared after b12 shots and was able to come off of gabapentin!)
Maybe the rheumatologist can help?
I also have a laparoscopy booked on sep 8th.
Suggest you get coeliac blood test done, before trialing strictly gluten free diet

I had a test as I requested one with lots of others and the celiac test came back negative. Although i have seen the advice on here about how it can help reduce antibodies.I have done keto 3 times and did feel much better and actually lost weight but felt it wasnt sustainable.
Rather than keto, just a gluten free diet
I had no idea that ED linked to hashimotos! I am very hyper mobile. 9/9 on Beighton scale. A physio tested me when I was referred for hand joint pain. GP not interested, no further tests or referral 🤷🏻♀️

Don’t assume it’s hypo related, best to get it checked. I had bradycardia and needed a pacemaker, nothing to do with being hypo.
What were your symptoms of low heart rate, if any? I have flutters and sometimes have to take a deep breath.....🤔
I also cant get a high heart rate with excersize.
When it was slow I was getting arrhythmias and pauses, breathless and fatigue, turned out I had 2nd degree heart block and atrial fibrillation.Feeling flutters is an arrhythmia and many people find taking a deep breath is a way to control it !
I've been to the gp before with it and he said I was tired and had anxiety and that my blood pressure was fine. Sent me on my way. May have to keep am eye on it 🤔
It took 3 years of back and forth to Cardiology and numerous tests to get a proper diagnosis !
I get this too.Had a 24 hour ecg and waiting results.
Not sure if its even to do with Thyroid?

no episodes during the ecg so i have the all clear.. frustrating if i want to do the whole process again for a longer evg it will take another 4/5 months

Mine is 45..it used to be 39 when I did sport..it went up to 55 before I started on flecaine. You only need worry when it stops.
It is fine. I am on heart drugs to get my resting rate down from 120 resting and now 50-60 on the heart meds. Cardiologist prefer you to have a low resting heart rate than high.
High causes all sorts of problems such as the body over working, risk of heart attack.
My heart rate has been 45 since being diagnosed. I have palpitations frequently. Levothyroxine for the last 10 years hasn’t changed this at all. And I keep T4 at the top of the range. I’ve had numerous cardiology appointments. Have frequent bigeminy episodes. HRT has reduced the frequency of palpitations but heart rate still 45 - 50. Cardiology don’t seem concerned at all.

My resting rate is always around 50. I also have very low blood pressure. Funnily enough yesterday I was at my mums and did a reading. Pulse 49 blood pressure 90/56 🤷♀️. It’s always been like this for me. Although when it’s this low I can feel a bit faint when I stand up.
I always had a heart rate of about 49 when still in my sixties and running and swimming, this was normal. If you are unfit the HR resting would normally between 60 and 100. I am not sure how thyroid medication affects the HR.
If you are unfit the HR resting would normally between 60 and 100. Really! I was under the impression that this reading is normal not because of being unfit. I do know that athletes would normally have a much lower BP but I wouldn’t say that 60-100 is because folk are unfit.
No sometimes just old. It's not always good for older people to have a low HR. or BP
Ah ok., some normal folk might be panicking after reading that . I’m 68 with low BP and normal HR but I’m quite active, my GP said he prefers to see a low BP rather than a high one but my HR can sometimes creep down.

I was diagnosed with bradycardia and hypothyroidism around the same time, they were never associated together, I now have a pacemaker and Cpap machine 100mg levothyroxine and do not feel any better😫
I am 87 and my heart rate is running 40 plus. I did fracture both hips in the last two years. Before that I was running around. I am still working so not your average old un. I dont like it it scares me I had always run high. Doctors don't pay much attention to us when we get over 80. After all they think well you have lived a long time how old do you think you are going to be? Throw away society
