Like any other medications 2 to 4 hours apart. However as lexapro affects serotonin, and much of the body's serotonin is in the gut, gut function does change on this medication. As a result some folks find that they need a slight increase in synthroid dose as a result. If you do a Google search you will find that this affect is has been well documented and has nothing to do with how far apart you take the different medications.

Thank you so much. Have had major problems with finding correct dose. Housebound past 4 years

I was housebound for 2 years. I can get out and about now but can't lead a full life yet. My body still has healing, adapting and recovery to do I was undermedicated by doctors on synthroid. This meant that my body used adrenaline to top up my thyroid hormones and keep me going. I had anxiety and panic attacks as a result. For years I took an anti d to try to combat these.

I finally decided to stop the anti d and the try to sort out my thyroid hormone levels. This was rocky road that lead to me being housebound. It did also show that I need T3 added to the synthroid. Adding the t3 has made the difference for me.

Have you got blood results to share on here? That is a good starting point.

My endo only believes in tsh levels. However I get full panel. I recently switched to synthroid due to not knowing tirosint had been changed to generic 4 years ago. About 8 weeks ago endo increased synthroid to 100mcg. At that time I had also switched back to name brand Lexapro. I tend to do better with a higher tsh around 5. At last checkTsh 3.1 range between .5-3.5

T4 2.0 range .80-1.76

T3 3.8 don’t have range

Thyroidectomy in 2013. Been through whole vitamin thing secondary to damaged parathyroid. Started injected Natpara. Natpara recalled after several years of taking to only find out parathyroids were working the whole time. I was taking about 20 hormones and vitamins a day. I became vitamin d toxic due to misdiagnosis. I was fully functional until 2019 until did stiupid gene test for antidepressant that shrink suggested even though I was fine. That started about 15 different changes in antidepressants which none worked. Tried to go back to Lexapro but didn’t work. At same time didn’t know tirosint went generic. I am a week down back to 88mcg of synthroid. Vomiting stopped, muscle spasms decreased and that’s about it. Still heart palpitations, shortness of breath, insomnia, anxiety, worry, bouts of crying, and severe brain fog

Most people when adequately treated will have TSH around or below 1, especially after thyroidectomy

Always test thyroid levels early morning, ideally before 9am and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

Important to regularly retest vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

What was reason for thyroidectomy?

If autoimmune thyroid disease or Graves’ disease….likely to find gluten free diet helps, but get coeliac blood test done BEFORE cutting gluten out

Negative for celiacs. Surgeon thought nodules were cancer. They weren’t. Vitamin d is finally dropping again after two years of toxic level. Started 1000iu per day. Endo said d was fine but started anyway. Lowest range of d levels is 30. I am at a level of 38. All other levels are good. A tsh of 1 would cause severe hyper symptoms. My t4 was already at a 2 with highest lab rang being 1.76
