Hi again,

Thanks for previous advice.

Just wondering what happens if you forget a dose, does your body need to build up the Levo again?

Forgetting 1 dose is not a biggy. Some folks might notice that they have a few off days as a result but others won't notice a thing.

Get yourself a weekly pill dispenser for your levothyroxine

That way it’s easy to see if you forgot a dose

Take it as soon as you realise

You can take two doses together if need be

Levothyroxine is a storage hormone

Did you get results back from recent blood tests

ALWAYS Test thyroid levels early morning, ideally before 9am and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

How much levothyroxine are you now taking

High thyroid antibodies confirms autoimmune thyroid disease also called Hashimoto’s

Important to get vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 levels tested

Plus coeliac blood test too

Request GP include these at your blood test

Don’t take levothyroxine before test

Test early morning, ideally before 9am and only drink water before test

Levo is referred to as a 'storage hormone'. It has to be converted to the active hormone (T3) to do most of it's work. Best to take the dose you missed when you can, maybe with the next dose.

It's a bit like the petrol in your car. It's there in the tank waiting to be used when you drive. If you forget to fill up when you meant to, then you can fill up another time.

How many days doses have you missed

Blood test should only be done after 6-8 weeks on constant unchanging dose and brand of levothyroxine

Which brand of levothyroxine are you currently taking

Do you always get same brand levothyroxine at each prescription

Not what you're looking for?
