I am sure I have read on here that the tablets that are teva can give people upset tummies and other symptoms. Just trying to eliminate a few new symptoms.

Thanks in advance

It can. It’s a bit of a marmite brand—people either seem to love it or hate it.

But the excipients—the fillers in the tablets—cause issues for some.

The full list of excipients is: maize starch, mannitol (E421), microcrystalline cellulose, sodium citrate, acacia and magnesium stearate.

Some think it’s the mannitol that upsets them, others the acacia.

The only way to know if you might be better off on a different brand is probably to try a different brand.

Thanks for this information. I have noticed my next batch are workhart I think that’s what they are called? Can’t check because I am not at home. So maybe wait and try these first.

I also have a blood test at the end of the week so will await results and discuss with the doctor

I definitely had issues with these lactose free brands, just getting off these alone reduced my TSH level and completely eliminated an under right the rib pain I was getting , we assume it was muscular/digestive problem, which was really uncomfortable … nothing showed up in tests or ultrasound when investigated, then realised it subsided with different brands of levothyroxine, so now I keep away from lactose free brands.Obviously had given me absorption problems as my TSH improved also I was always well above 2 just removing those brands got me lower and my predominantly muscular problems also lifted a bit but not completely.

I started hrt and Liothyronine and that’s got my muscular problems in a better place.

Monitor your symptoms and let your GP know and get a brand your good on prescribed.

So that people know for sure, are you saying that applied to all three currently available UK lactose-free levothyroxine products - Teva, Aristo and Glenmark?

Sorry should of mentioned that.

My problem was with the brands Aristo and Teva, I haven’t been prescribed Glenmark at all to comment on that one.I now just keep away from lactose free medication regardless.

Thank you - just trying to avoid (possible) future misunderstandings. As you realised. :-)
