Just arrived at Turkey for an Easterbreak away , put my swimming shorts on and realized my legs have big bald patches . Considering I'm a very hairy person it looks very odd. Ha ha. Anyone else have this problem. Could it be thyroid related?
Leg hair : Just arrived at Turkey for an... - Thyroid UK
Leg hair
yes .. attractive isn't it .. if you're lucky you will end up with not much hair above your ankle's and a lovely 'cuff' of fur around them, like me ... and i'm female .
Dunno of it's thyroid or not ... i noticed my mum had the same thing in middle age, bald patches on inside of lower half of shins ... then lo and behold it happened to me too , when i was about ?40 . i went hypo about age 32. and my mum didn't have hypothyroidism , or at least if she did, it wasn't recognised, she was poorly though.. seem to remember she had jaundice when i was little.
So as for whether it's hereditary or hypo in my case ~ i think the jury is still out .
i wouldn't mind if they stopped growing all together , but being left with a cuff is just taking the piss .....
Same here it looks like I've shaved my legs but left two hairy ringlets on each leg. Shaving them off also seems wrong . Since I've been on levothyroxine I've got rid of a lot of symptoms but gained others.
Socks and sandals. Good idea. Proper English man. Thanks . Ha. Will do
Stubbo46 I get it regularly but more like a half plucked chicken than Turkey when it happens.Found it seems to happen with wear and pressure.Especially when sitting all day operating machinery the pearly buttocks go bald believe it or not. Also if the heater is under my seat in a crane I rub my calf muscles and shins more and it happens.Maybe something's causing pressure or rubbing on the areas affected.Enjoy your holiday and take care!
Overt Hypothyroidism here and yes, I lost all of my lower leg hair. It looks like I shaved a perfect wide band around my lower legs.
So looks like it is the hypo causing it. Better get used to it then ha
