An insightful feature on the thyroid, following a singer who had an enlarged goitre. The surgery part is quite shocking (the removed thyroid is massive!), but it's really useful to see how the thyroid looks in 3D.
junebug7 thanks for sharing. I've got this series on record, so will look forward to watching that episode (even though I'm hypo/Hashis, it's all so very interesting, and complicated...!)
I saw this show.I have graves and am awaiting a thyroidectomy.I have my pre-op assessment next week.I found the programme very helpful but I did come out in a cold sweat during the operation.I'm glad I watched it.
It was a very good programme the graphics were amazing and very scary to see how big the abnormal lobe had become and all the damage it was starting to do to other structures nearby. A relative nearly did suffocate to death from an enormous goitre much bigger than the one shown and quite inoperable - she was like a bullfrog. In complete denial for years letting it grow to grotesque proportions hidden under polo neck jumpers . Emergency chemo shrunk it by half in one dose and gave 8 years remission but the cancer came back and couldn’t be treated a second time, or only palliatively
