I'm 3 weeks into a dose increase of Levothyroxine from 75mcg to 100mcg.
2 weeks ago I got tonsillitis for first time in my life and was put on antibiotics.
Last week I tested positive for covid. Days after sitting at A+E for hours after my son broke his ankle (Another story lol)
Obviously I feel horrific but finally coming out the other side. Is there any chance these infections could have effects on blood tests I'm due in 3-5 weeks time to see how my levels are doing after the increase.
Is it best to wait a little longer than usual after an increase to give my body time to recover before having thyroid bloods done?
Thanks everyone. First time I've been proper poorly since being diagnosed other than the usual hypothyroid symptoms lol.
I have posted about this recently regarding out of range TSH levels whist with or recovering from an illness or after Flu and COVID vaccines.
I picked this up from looking at my records online, when I have visited the doctors when not feeling well they have always said you need a blood test to check your TSH level as it hasn’t been done lately.
I do not think they even consider or understand that the thyroid could be affected by an infection etc. If it were me and you do not have any hypo or hyper symptoms and are still recovering from COVID I would give a few weeks, so 3 to 5 weeks could de about right but if they want to change dose again I would ask for another test a few weeks later to see if there is a difference. I am not a medical professional so it is only my opinion.
