Morning.Please could you tell me if methotrexate and intramuscular steroids can affect thyroid results .Thanks in advance

I don’t know about intramuscular steroids affecting TSH but when I was taking levothyroxine and I had to take oral steroids, my TSH was suppressed. My doctor nearly accused me of taking a higher dose of Levo when I told him I believed that it was the steroids. However the next time I had to take steroids and my TSH was again suppressed he believed me. I can’t say that I’ve noticed MTX affecting TSH because I take T3 only so my TSH is suppressed anyway.

Thanks for your reply, it seems strange that this is the longest I’ve gone without the steroid and my Tsh has risen .I wonder if it has been suppressed.!,

A GP should know this ….many have no idea
