I have read that Soy bean products are not suitable for those suffering from hypothyroidism. Is this true ? If it is, how do the Chinese cope with Hypothyroidism as majority of their foods contain soy sauce and also fermented soy bean paste?
Please advise.

There is conflicting information that soy affects the absorption of levothyroxine and liothyronine or NDT etc.If you Google search soy and hypothyroidism you will get articles, reviews and opinions.
As there is doubt and as those on here need to be very careful to get the most out of ingesting thyroid hormones we err on the side of caution and suggest that soy be avoided.
You can substitute coconut aminos for soy in recipes at home.
As for eating Chinese's food. Why not on occasion?
How do people who eat soy daily manage hypo? They could be on a higher dose of levo, lio, NDT etc to compensate for the malabsorption than they would be if they did not include soy in their diet.
Thank you lalatoot. I wonder if fermentation of soy products changes the part of soy bean that causes the malabsorption of thyroxine. Could you advise?
I think over milennia, different cultures adapt to a degree to consume certain foods with less problems or side effects. Some cultures cannot tolerate any alcohol for example. It's very interesting. There could be something else that is typically eaten in these countries or something else about their diet that ameliorates the possible side effects of soy. We are using it outside the context of the wider diet.
