Hi anyone had a problem with burst blood vessels in the eye? This is the second time I have had this within three months. I had my blood pressure checked and it was good. Can’t think of any other reason.

Hi purple64, I’m sorry that your eyes are causing you problems again. I would definitely recommend visiting your optician or GP and getting a referral to see a TED specialist ophthalmologist. Over the years, you’ve had quite a few eye symptoms that could point to TED. It can flare at any point, but often if your thyroid levels have changed. Do you have any recent thyroid blood tests to share?

No I don’t have any recent blood tests. I stopped carbimazole at the end of July 21 as levels were good. Endocrinologist wanted me to stop in November 19 but I said I wasn’t ready. Maybe i should try and get a blood test, if I can get passed the receptionist 😂

Oh dear, you have had a very rough time. When our eyes are involved it worries us even more in case our eyes are damaged or about our eyes failing altogether.

The following is a link and I hope it is a bit helpful.

Thank you. I did ask if it was graves related but the answer I got was that as you get older the blood vessels become more fragile. I might try and speak to my own GP and see if I can get a blood test

I get phases of vessels bursting in the right eye. GP dismisses it as minor capillaries bursting. In The same eye I also get stabbing pains and the socket bones ache. I just assume that it part and parcel of PA & hypothyroidism. Nothing bad seems to have happened over time. I don’t know if this helps or not, but I hope you can get some reassurance from a specialist TED doctor as suggested by others. Take care, I wish you well.

Thank you. GP did say that it’s also part of ageing and the vessels get thinner 🤷‍♀️
