My nutritionist advised me to keep eating brassicas but avoid them raw. But it's Christmas, and I love pickled red cabbage... Think I could make a chutney style pickle instead,or would the normal pickle destroy the goitrogens?

Can I eat cabbage pickle?
Welcome to the forum
Unless you were going to eat masses of raw cabbage every day it’s highly unlikely to make much difference with autoimmune thyroid disease (hashimoto’s)

What are your most recent thyroid and vitamin results?
Research suggests Fibroids and hypothyroidism can be linked
Goitrogens affect people who aren't on thyroid hormone replacement - if they eat enough of them, which would have to be a huge amount - not people taking levo.
What goitrogens do is impede the uptake of iodine by the thyroid, thereby causing a goitre - hence the name. If you are taking thyroid hormone replacement, your thyroid no-longer needs iodine because it is no-longer making thyroid hormone. So, goitrogens won't affect it.
The exception to this is soy, which as well as being a goitrogen, also impedes the uptake of thyroid hormone by the cells. So, avoid soy, but enjoy your cabbage - raw, pickled or boiled to death! lol Your nutritionist needs to go back to school.
Some say it does, some say it doesn't. I don't know. I wouldn't eat the ghastly stuff, anyway. Ugh! lol
Sauerkraut??? The best thing for your microbiome (spelling ?) and friendly bacteria any fermented stuff is. Build it up, we need ours desperately with liwthyroid.
Nope that isn't a fermented food, sorry I jumped the gun and thought you were talking about sauerkraut. But a little of what you fancy does you good, don't you think?
Brassica ie raw greens, can cause you trouble if you are lowthyroid, always cook it.
