iMove and levothyroxine

Hi

I have been on levo for 5 years now and I can now spot the under medicating symptoms quite well but I have started getting some random symptoms that make me suspect either the iMove is interfering with my levo or it’s just a coincidence and I am now randomly over medicated. Since starting the iMove I have been getting periodic heart fluttering/palpitations. At first I thought it might be caffeine related so I cut down but that made it worse !! Has anyone else had experience with iMove and levo ? From a joint point of view it’s amazing so much relief from my joint pains so I am a bit loathed to stop it but I’m worried it’s not agreeing with the levo. Is it worth pressuring the GP to do a blood test ? I was last checked in July and my levels were the best they have ever been so I am a bit worried about messing with it.

Thanks

Andrea 😊

It’s the human version of the well known dog supplement YuMOVE a herbal remedy for joint pain/stiffness

Imove the supplement containing omega 3, glucosamine, hyaluronic acid, vitamin C & E?

Assume you take well away from levo?

Any fillers in the supplement you could be reacting to?

Another possibility is that the supplements have has such a positive affect on your joints you have become significantly more active enough to deplete FT4 & FT3 faster resulting in under medication.

Thank you for your reply.

Yes iMove the supplement, it’s hot green lipid mussel along with the above vitamins etc. Funny you should mention the being more active as I am now able to walk my dogs practically daily now (on average 5/7 days a week for about 45mins to an hour) when I wasn’t doing anything much before. Also a good point re taking it together I will start spreading my supplements away from my levo. I currently take everything together which I hadn’t even thought about being an issue 🤦‍♀️

Extra physical activity would increase the levels of hormone you need. It might be a fractionally daily increase but if your levels are low for you, more activity would make a noticeable difference.

What were your last results? Was TSH, FT4 & FT3 tested? Some also find they also need a increase in colder months, so a test in July likely very different now.

Recommended on this forum levo be taken on empty stomach with full glass of water at least a hour before food, other drinks, supplements and other medication as any of those can interfere with the absorption. 4 hours for certain supplements such as iron or calcium and medicines like HRT for example.

Does the supplement contain iodine? As excess iodine can affect those with thyroid issues.

I can’t take the green mussels, puts my blood pressure up. I am nearly 86 and have tried nearly everything. 😂

Hi Andrea I think the green mussels in the imove is full of iron ,so if you have been taking them with your levo that may be the problem. I tried imove for a few months last year but my joints got worse and felt more tired, this is before I discovered I had haemochromatosis, which is a build up of iron in the body. So not good for me. Try spacing them out so not to affect levo absorption.

I used iMove without any affect on my thyroid meds. I didn’t get such great results from it, however, and gave it up. Best wishes

Hi Andrea, I don't have any experience with iMove but I'm on a low dosage of levothyroxine. I take it early in the morning before I get up with water, then go back to sleep. It seems the best time to take it as any other vitamins etc won't interfere with it then - don't take those until a few hours later. I can't really advise you greatly, other than to say I suffered from really bad joint pain until I gave up dairy and it went then more or less. Have you tried that?

I would be asking to get another blood test, as it's around five months and things can change or need to be adjusted in a shorter period of time.

I'm not familiar with iMove however I'm very reluctant to take anything as it might interfer with the Levothyroxine. I'm on other stuff as well and even though my blood tests require adjusting of the doses from time to time I do not take anything else other than the occasional Ibuprofen or Paracetamol, mainly for muscle or joint pain. Usually one tablet is enough to eliminate the pain but I also limit physical activity until I feel "normal" again. These two pain killers do not seem to be affecting the Levothyroxine.

Thanks all, attached are my last test results. When I last had my iron checked it was low ish 57 (range 25-250) the gp suggested otc supplements but they made me feel sick. I already keep my dairy intake to a minimum as since having my gallbladder removed to much dairy has me on the loo !! I do also take a high dose otc vit d3 as it’s always low whenever it’s checked.

I have separated my tablet intake ( I gave to take levo at bedtime due to the dizzy spells it gives me) that seems to have stoped the palpitations. But I will get my levels checked by the gp. I’m currently on 125mcg levo
